I applied for my parents's Family Sponsorship back in June 2011. The CIC website says "Issuing acknowledgement letters for applications received on April 29, 2011". It's been stuck on this message for months. No update. I am wondering how long does it take to receive the acknowledgement receipt back from CIC for Family Sponsorship applications. Family Sponsorship was applied from within Canada. Thanks

OMG! that's over 1/2 year... call them up tomorrow.. the phone lines open at 8 and see what's going on! Once you call, to skip the messages just press 0-0-0-0-1 and then you'll talk to someone... good luck! You might already have your PPR and not even know it!

I never received an AOR.
The first communication - of any sort - that I received was in December of 2011 (Buffalo V.O.) regarding a document that they already had in hand. I applied in February of 2011, but am in Quebec and that adds 1-2 months to the process. My application was (from what I can see) completely typical.
Don't rely on the receipt of an AOR. Depending on the VO, you may never receive one.
I hope this helps!

I have heard this to be true in a lot of cases. I have heard CIC is very inconsistent with sending out AORs.... It is hard not to compare your case with others, and very frustrating to not have updated receipt of status... just keep the faith....

Hi shohreh47, have you already received any acknowledgement letter from Immigration Canada. I did also apply at the beginning of June, 2011 and I have not received anything yet. Thanks, Caspar

I have a little question: when you received a note from Buffalo telling you to send something that you had already sent, what did you do? Did you send them an email, or...?

I spoke to immigration more than a couple of times and they told me they are sending AOR up to APR.29/11 and its normal for my case not to recieve by now..He told me to wait at least 3 more months to recieve AOR. He said make sure to keep your canada post traking number and your payment reciept.

Thanks shohreh47 for your reply. So I guess we have to wait. I called them also and got basically the same answer. I have still my tracking number and receipt. So hopefully we get a letter soon. I will keep you updated. Cheers...
