Hi guys,

I am a recent graduate. Finished my two years program and working temporary in my field. but i got a job through an agency. I get cheques of the agency and not company. I get my salary deducting the taxes. Will this experience be counted and be a strong document for getting me PR or i have to be on the companies payroll?

Thanks in advance!

It shouldn't be a problem as long as there is an established employer/employee relationship. That is, they deduct taxes, CPP, etc from your pay, there are set hours you are expected to work, etc. Also, you would need an employment letter with your main duties and responsitbilites, hours worked, salary, etc.

There is another member, "ujbaby" who also worked for agencies and has just applied for CEC. Read her posts.

I am exactly the same boat as u but recently applied cec. I haven't heard from cic yet but i provided everything that they required from my agencies. There are some couple of other people with same situation on this forum. u can try and search employment agency under search engine in this forum and it will shed some light. let's hope for the best..

yeah, i completed one year before applying.

my application was returned on monday. The reason for returning was that i didn't pay the  appropriate processing  fee.
i am applying for myself and my 2 dependant children under the age of 22 and i paid the total amount of $850( one adult(myself) and my 2 kids under 22yrs). The officer handling my file did his own calculation and mentioned that i have to pay $1250 instead of $850,  he added $550 x 2 + $150 = $1250, therefore he returned my application. i don't know how he came up with that figure. From what i understood, he added my son as adult. I have mailed back the application since yesterday and paid another $1250 including the previous $850, so the officer will choose the right amount and proceed with my application to avoid further delay. I also included written explanation explaining everything and i hope they will understand and charge my credit card. The officer didn't mention anything regarding my agency employment. I hope and pray that i will be fine and will keep u posted
