Hi All,

I have recieved my IELTS score yesterday from AEO Karachi, Heard lot of goodies for lineint marking but disapointed a lot, I think British council or AEO both marking are the same, no exception at all. I got L=7, R=6.5, W=6, S=7.5 and overall band is 7. But i am astonished to get such a low score,I am pretty confident that my score should be more than this, specially in L & R, now considering to Re-check my marks, though with this score(12 points) i scored 70 points, should i stay with this IELTS score or go for Re-Checking. Any advise plz.

Thanks!

if your total points is 70, this means you are good to go. why taking the hassle of getting involved in having the IELTS results re-checked. forget about ielts and send your immigration application.

a score of 67 is as good as a score of 87. So if you already have 70 then no  need to worry. You just need 67 to qualify

I second that...

There's absolutely no need for u to take the IELTS again.

Listening 7.0 = 2 points
Reading 6.5 = 4 points
Writing 6.0 = 2 points
Speaking 7.5 = 4 points

Total = 12 points

"Re-Checking", actually it is IOR (Inquiry on Results) for Listening and Reading will be useless, as it is done simply by comparing your answers to correct ones (how dumb examiner could be to make a mistake there?). Don't flatter yourself, it is very clear that you need to acquire skills for L & R.
So, it leaves Writing and Speaking. Go for IOR ONLY if you are 100% positive that you can get higher mark. If you have any doubt then no use. It will be the same.

It seems that you get enough points, but, why to stop studying? Continue. You can for sure improve. And it will be good for yourself.
For example, thanks to studying for IELTS I don't have to ask to repeat numbers and letters over the phone anymore. Now I can write them down correct as I hear them only once.
My IELTS was L - 8, R - 9, W - 6 and S - 7.5. I applied for IOR for W (ha-ha, too cocky, but later I realized my mistakes in the format of the essay). Of course, W - 6 was left unchanged.

Nop i am not at all flattering to myself, when I say i am confident means it is the fact, now what I realize why people say IELTS exam is a hot business, they intentionally give low scores so one has to either repeat or go for IOR (as u told),on this forum one mate has given 3 times the test and than achieved 7.5 band, it is rediculous, If my band is 7.5 in spoken, does this make any sense that my Listeninig will be less, If i cant comprehend the speaker, how would I reply, so mate their might be a dumb person sitting in L & R section, but I have give up this idea, as i am not gonna waist my precious hard earned money for Re-check, Its useless effort I know, they wont change the score, now i will better stay with my score.

By the way where do u belong from?

For listning BBC news and Star plus Movies, the best, writing make concentration on your vocabulary and spellings, this is my weak point specially spelling, which has resulted me 6 band.

All the best for your IELTS!

I am ethnic Russian from Uzbekistan living in China.

Don't blame the test. It is pretty fare. Test needs preparation for TEST.
Taking test and listening to someone is NOT the same thing.
Your listening has very little to do with your speaking. Actually it is your writing that effects your ability to express yourself.
No offence, but I can see why you achieved the score you have, you made a number of mistakes - spelling, grammar etc.

By the way, watching movies will only help to improve "watching movie" skills.
Listening BBC radio, reading articles in serious magazines, writing (in PEN, not typing on PC) IELTS essays and interview with someone will help with IELTS.

If someone took the test three time and every time he had 7.5, then FOR SURE he was doing something on the preparation part. But, he probably blamed the IELTS designers or open window, or someone sneezing next to him etc. However not himself.

Thanks mate for your comments, this is my first attempt and i got this score, now what about 2nd and than 3rd short, from 7 I can move to probably 8 band, isn't it, this is what i am trying to realize all IELTS intended takers that its not what u see and think its what IELTS authority wants, they want money, its a just a business, u accept it or not, I have seen many candidates who have taken classes from AEO Karachi, Pakistan for Rs.22,000/- and got 8 band, even they cant speak for more than 5 minutes, I have personaly met such bozos, what should i call it a scam? I bet if i would have enroled myself for their coaching classes i will also have score near 8 band, but i believe in myself that this score sheet will not gonna help me in practicle life, If by cheating or scam even I could have achieved this score, what i will do in Canada? looks like a dumb face. So i am not gonna waist my precious hard earned money to IELTS authority, unless i need high score despiritly.

By the way their is no grammer concept in L & R, though spelling matters but very little.

Cheers!
