So I'm applying for PR under common-law and I was thinking myself to sponsoring my mother to come and live with me in Canada ( in a long long time). However, she has a criminal background. She was convicted of drug charges and was deported from the US. (She was a US green card holder, but a UK citizen) She did her time and is off the drugs, completely clean. However, I'm not sure if this drug charge that happened about 10 years ago is going to hold her back from getting sponsored herself? Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you.

Depends on when she finished her sentence.  Look up "deemed rehabilitation".

I just checked at the Florida Us police department, she served her sentence and was released in 2003. So I suppose I could wait 2 year and she could apply for rehabilitation.
