Is it possible to travel to US while the in-land PR App in process?

Hi, friends

I knwo this question might be anwsered for several times,  but i couldn't find anything for now, My wife is from visa exempt country,she's holding the working holiday visa ( the visa will be expired on May 2011), her in-land PR application is in process right now ( we sent the application to CPC-V this january),  I would like to know if she can travel to US , is it safe? she dosen't need visa to get in US boarder , neither canada, we just want to shop around in US, most likely one day trip .

It could be risky... according to the cic site on form 5289, one of the things it says to consider before completing this application:
Have no guarantee that you will be permitted to return or re-enter Canada if you leave before permanent residence is approved. This is especially true if a visitor visa is required.

I am really not an expert in this matter especially when my application hasn't been submitted yet. (It will be this week.) My husband is U.S. citizen. so he doesn't need any visa to go to the States or to go to Canada. But at the beginning of the application process, part of the reason we have opt to apply outland vs. inland (besides being much faster) is because my husband could then visit his family in the states. I could be wrong about this, if so, perhaps someone can explain the risk, or the reason why they think you could travel outside Canada while waiting for PR and under what circumstance they are free to travel.

If you think in such a way there is risk for every thing.
At the boarder the officers at both sides, will check for the validity and eligibility of the document (passport,PR Card, visa etc) while entering USA and re-entering Canada. They may ask simple questions like where you are going?, Where did you go?, how many days of stay, did you bring anything exceeding the allowed limit?, etc.  They are not going to ask whether your PR application is in process or going to apply shortly...like that.

So,  if you are crossing boarder for a short period of stay, just do it. Not for months!.

As long as the working holiday visa allows for multiple entries, I'd say go for it.

Of course, if it was a single-entry visa, then you're at the whim of the border guard. 

A submitted PR application would likely be in your favour -- if you have a copy of the application, you should bring it with you (especially the receipt and any proof that it's been filed, like the tracking information from CanadaPost).

Hi,Guys, thanks for all the replies , my wife's working holiday visa is still available, I think it should be fine too, i'll call CIC to double confirm & keep everyone updated here
