Hello all!

After being with my bf for 1.5 years and 2 visitor visa extensions, we are decided to go for common-law sponsorship.  Wink
We go for common-law sponsorship mainly for financial reason, and it would be nice to have a well planned wedding later on instead of rushing to get married.
However my current visa is going to expire in 2 weeks (30 Dec) and we do not have enough time to get all the documents that we need.
I have seen posts somewhere here that it is okay to extend for couple months to get started with the Sponsorship, but it will be my 3rd visa extension.............. is it okay??

Thanks so much everyone, this forum rocks!!!

To extend your visa a 3rd time? I've extended my visa close to 6 times.

I was honest. The first time I extended it was to maintain my status and qualify for Common-Law and then I kept on extending when I sent off my PR application. They saw that my PR application was in the system and kept on extending. For some reason they kept on giving me like...3-4 month intervals, so I just kept on extending.

You have to maintain status, so yes.

oh no, i misunderstood the whole process......

I just applied a 2 months visitor visa extension (to collect documents for my Sponsorship), now after 2 months I will have to extend my visitor visa together with my Common-law sponsorship?? So there will be 2 applications? Oh no........... I just wasted $75 dollars!!

You have to maintain visitor status even if you have a Permanent Resident application in process.
