Is it mandatory to enter canada for the family members other than the applicant to get the pr cards? Or main applicant alone can get family member's pr card. If mandatory, is it possible that they loose their residency visa and start over again(because main applicant got the pr card). I mean what happens for the family other than main applicant

Yes it is mandatory that all the family members who got PR visa and COPR must land in Canada individually within the expiry period of their visa. Principal applicant who alone landed will get his PR conformed,  where as other family members will loose their PR if not landed in time. If they lost their visa, they have to start over again all the formalities - ie, you (PA) have to sponsor them as family class - spouse and children.

wilson is right.  When members of the same family all get a PR visa, the principal applicant must land either before or with the others so they can land.  Each member of the family must land in order to activate their PR.  Nobody can land for somebody else.  Family members who choose not to land will lose their PR visa as it will expire.  This will not affect the PR of those who landed.

Those who lose their visa can in most cases be sponsored again by the principal applicant.  The only problem would be young adult children who may not meet the definition of dependent child any more.
