Hello Everybody,
I would like to ask your help regarding the following topic:
I have a Canadian boyfriend for about 1,5 years. We do not want to get married yet, but we want to live together first and get married after. Because of immigration barriers we cannot live together and we thought it would be a good idea for me to try to apply for a university and ask for a temporary student visa as a first step, and he would support me with lodging and food. I have learnt that the Canadian government expects international students to return to their home countries after their studies though. That is why I would like to ask if we can get married while I am doing my studies in Canada and request a spousal visa, or do I need to return to my home country and require a spousal visa from there after my studies. I would like to know which option is accepted, because we would not like to do anything illegal for fear that the Canadian authorities would not recognize our marriage...please help.
