Apologies if this has been asked before, but I searched and couldn't find an answer...

I'm a visa-exempt British Citizen who's visiting Canada for six months and have now decided to marry a Canadian permanent resident. My fiance and I do not have any previous marriages. Under Canadian law, is it legal (and possible) for us to marry in Canada right now?

If so, would I have to leave Canada at the end of the six months and apply for a spouse visa (or similar) if I later decided to settle in Canada?

Many thanks in advance.

1.  Yes there are no restrictions.
2.  No, your spouse can submit an In-Canada spousal application while you remain in Canada on visitor status, or you can remain in Canada if you visitor's status is extended and she sponsors you via an out of Canada application.  In the first scenario read: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp   in the second http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp
3.  If you choice the out of Canada (probably faster) it would be processed through London.  Although if an interview is required it would be in London.
