Yes, it has to be included with the application to CIO Sydney, NO ielts, application is returned.

Applicants must send original IELTS result with their initial application to CIO. pls note that " IELTS must be general training module and it's validity must not be more than 1 year while submitting it to CIO"

now validity is 2 years

According to latest update(took place in 23 Dec 2010) IELTS result is valid for 2 years

EG7 booklet in pdf formet has  been updated and it also shows IELTS is valid for 2 years instead of 1 year.
