Hi everyone,
I just had a few questions.

Let me start with some background information. I am a Canadian citizen and I sent my papers to sponsor my husband (who lives in Germany) in March 2010 and I recieved a letter from immigration acknowledging that they got my papers in April 2010. Then in the beginning of MAY 2010 my husband got a letter to go and get his medicals done.
He did this and then they told him to go an translate all his paperwork for security background check (since he had some papers in german). By the end of August we sent all this (it took until august cuz of the medicals which needed further testing) and we just sat and waited until Jan 2011.

Finally after being tired of waiting I contacted my local MP to help me and she sent a request to Ottawa and guess what........apparently they dont have the medicals on file!! i was furious because we did our part but apparently somebody didnt update the file and so were told to just wait. Now in may 2011 the medicals expired and they been telling us to just wait and that the are doing background security checks.
The one thing that gave me is that the MP told me that they told her that our relationship is a poisitive match which means the Immigration officer for our file doesnt have any doubt about our relationship.

However on sep 26,2011  my husband had an interview in Germany and we have been waiting for the results. He said the guy who interviewed him was cool and nice and they told him to wait for Ottawa to make a decision.
Normal processing times in Germany was 13months when we filed our papers but now its been reduced to 9months but our process has taken almost 2 yrs and its been very frustrating.

I just wanted to ask, how long after an interview do people usually hear anything back?

Quite difficult to give answer for your Question, depending on VOs.
But you can do something if you wanna know ho is  your application  going.
By calling to CPC-M (cause you said they told you to wait Ottawa's decision)or order your CAIPS notes and you can find out exactly.
Good luck

Everyone that I've known who has had to have an interview found out the same day if they will get the visa or not. Usually (from what I've heard) the interviewer at the end will tell the applicant whether or not he thinks the relationship is genuine. I have also known of a few people who have gotten their PPR right after the interview. Wait until November, then contact your MP again if you can. Ask her to check up on your file to make sure everything's going smoothly.

thnx for the replies guys.
My MP told me that sometimes you might end up waiting upto 3 more months after the interview....i dont know why tho.
I know my husband's medicals are expired and I guess he will have to do it again, that is when they decide to reply.
I have been thinking about ordering my CAIP notes but i checked online and they said that if i order it now i wont get it till the end of November and im hoping that I dont have to wait till then for Ottawa to respond.
I want to call them but I dont know if I should becuz my MP usually advises not to do so.
What do u guys think?

You're right. Usually once they ask for the 2nd medical, you will receive your PPR. If your husband's medicals have already expired, I would suggest redoing them as soon as you can. Since it takes about 3 weeks for the embassy to receive the results.
Since your husband has already done his interview, I wouldn't suggest getting the CAIPS notes. Those are mostly useful before you go to an interview to see what they might ask you. Plus, as you said, you probably won't receive them for a month. If you want to call to check the status of your application, call this number 1-888-242‑2100. It's a 24/7 automatic service, but you will want to talk to an agent so call between Monday and Friday 8am-4pm. This number is if you are in Canada only. If you are currently abroad, you can't use this service. Just be patient, I'm sure they'll reply soon Smiley

Good luck!

Then he probably had security interview not selection interview. They send it to CSIS for review.

I'm waiting review of mine too. Had my interview month ago. It takes around 3 months for VO to get back review from CSIS. Then VO will send you request to redo medicals. I don't know about Berlin, my office is Vienna and they send medicals to London. It can take around 2 months for London to finish it. After that you'll get PPR request.
Those are the time frames I know but every case is different. Hope this helps and I hope it will be faster than that for you guys.

Thnx for all the replies everybody! I really appreciate it.
I called the 1800 number today and they told me that they can't tell me anything about my husband's file and that I should contact the embassy in berlin. But the berlin embassy doesn't take telephone calls so I'm back to sqaure one.
I guess I'll just wait and hope for the best.
Also the last time my husband did his medicals they were sent to the office in Vienna and they are apparently in charge of medicals. Last time the doctor or somebody in vienna didn't handle our medicals properly and that delayed us really bad.
I just wish they would call him for an interview already so that we don't have to wait longer but I guess that's protocol.
I will keep u guys posted Smiley
