Hi ,

1) We applied for Canadian PR in  December 2009,  at that time we were in NJ,USA on H1B visa.
2) In October 2010 we had to relocate to India due to H1B extension issues, since then we are in India.
3) In early 2011 we have applied online & got confirmation for change of address from NJ to Hyderabad, India.
4) today we received an email stating we have interview scheduled in New york , office on Novemeber 28, 2011 & we have to present with all the applicants ( my wife, 2 kids { both are US citizens) along with myself) for the interview.
5) I have a B1 visa , 2 kids are US citizens but my wife does not have any visa to travel to USA, do you think I should try for her B2 visa  for this interview ?

Q : Request help from the experts , as why they have called for an interview ?
Q : when they have given acceptance for change of address again why they would insist to have an interview in New york only ?
Q : Is it possible to have the interview in India ( Delhi  has Canadian Embassy )
Q : any other alternatives that i may have ....

looking forward for you help
Thanks

Yes, at the earliest

Q : Request help from the experts , as why they have called for an interview ?
Order CAIPS NOTES, you will come to know the reason for interview.

Not sure, better not to take any risk.
Q : any other alternatives that i may have ....

Hi Smilekumar,

Why they asked interview is a good question. There could be several reasons for scheduling the PR applicant for an interview. After the interview you may perhaps feel that  the interview was not necessary for them because most of your answers were already submitted by you in the application forms and supporting documents.

Appended below is an example of similar case - An applicant from USA who was interviewed at New York office
Interviewing Officer has all the submitted documents  to CIC.
Questions may vary according to the case.
Only sample questions

1. On what visa you are in USA ?
2. Show me your visa paper ?
3. Are you currently working in USA ?
4. How long you been in USA ?
5. Who is your present Employer ? any proof (Employee
verification letter or latest pay stub) ?
6. Who was your past employers in USA ? any proof
(Experience letter, Pay stub, Appointment letter etc.) ?
7. Where were you staying  in USA?
8. Where are your dependent now ?
9. What degrees do you have ?
10. Show me Degree certificate and Marksheets of all
11. Show me latest bank statements
12. Once you move to Canada, how much money/asset will be
with you ?

13. Is your spouse working in USA currently ?
14. What is your, spouce's and children's mother tounge ?
15. Which country's citizenship do you have ?
16. Show me your(and dependents) passports.
17. where are your parents right now ?
18. Have you been to Canada ? If yes, on what visa ?
19. Is there any of your relative in USA ?
20. Is there any of your relative in Canada ?
21. Once you will go to Canada, what city will you hit first ?

Interviewing Officer will ask you some questions about your criminal records in past,

After asking all these questions, he/she will take your signatures, and then your spouse's signatures on 2 different papers..

I suggest requesting for a change of current interview is not a good option.

If it is difficult to travel to USA and spend lot of money you may  request for re-scheduling your interview to  New Delhi. Look whether there are any instructions for doing so in your letter for interview.

If you request for a change of place for interview, your re-scheduling request could considerably be delayed. At least six months to one
year time. Mean while you should re-do the medical for everybody.

Take an appropriate decision according to the situation.
