Alright, so we just received notification that the decision has been made about my partner's PR status.  We applied under common-law, used a lawyer and were not called for an interview.  We are in a same-*censored word* relationship and in Japan were unable to co-habit continuously for one year due to my arranged living arrangements with a contract stating that I can't have overnight visitors and the social ostracism he would have recieved.  However we made every effort to co-habit and did so every weekend and on some weekdays, went on trips together, represented ourselves as a couple and he came to Canada to visit my family and later on a Working Holiday Visa and we've been living together continuously for 10 months at this point.

I'm just concerned that they're going to say no.  They didn't call for clarification or request an interview...I'm just worried.  Can anyone advise?

Thank you!

I don't want to give false hope, but I am guessing it's an approval. Though honestly, I don't see why, because you obviously weren't a common-law couple at the time you filed, since you hadn't been living together. Maybe conjugal, but not common-law.
However, I don't think I've heard CIC refuse an application without even a request for additional documents. If there's issues, they always give the applicant a chance to explain them. So... *shrugs* Seems weird that they didn't ask for an interview, they've asked for one for much less.

Whatever it was, the decision is made. Hope it's a good one and you hear the news soon. Good luck!

Just an aside, if a person applies for Immigration and they clearly don't meet the criteria, then there is no need for an interview.
