I appeared for IELTS from Pakistan in January 2010. My scores were following

Speaking 6, Writing 7, Reading 7, Listening 7.5, Over all 7 It was Academic

I had to appear in IELTS again recently, November 2011 for General in Ottawa
I got late for exam and missed around 5-6 questions of listening in start.
Interestingly, I got score of 7.0 but with following break down
Speaking 8, Writing 6, Reading 7, Listening 6.5

I scored what I wanted but Just sharing what happened Smiley
I believe IELTS is tough in Canada rather than Pakistan

It's because IELTS result is not stable.

For example, when you got your result back, you can actually apply for a rechecking if you believe your performance was good.

Most of my friends got a higher score then.

How did it happen that you began the listening late? The preamble to the listening recording takes at least 15 minutes (the invigilator gives a speech about the rules, etc. and then you need to fill in your name, candidate ID, etc. on the answer sheet). This is all before the recording begins...
