hi to all applicants under NOC 3152!
i would like to ask and know ur experiences after u got ur visas, landing and job hunting experiences..and how to start ur life in Canada.... As I know, nurses cannot work as registered professionals at the start because we have to take all the exams in order to become a registered nurse in Canada...
As I am waiting for my visa (passports was sent and waiting to come back in my hands)....I am also anxious how is my career going to be once I land in our dream country...
Hope this thread will start for the benefit of all the nurses wishing to have a new career path in Canada or for all who is already there share ur experiences please please please .......

there are no nurses on this forum..i guess i'm the only one.... hehehe! Dear cheot09 It is not possible to work as a nurse without registration number. First of all you should apply to register in a province , they will check all of documents which is required. Maybe you need to take part in a adaptation course and maybe you can take part in CRNE exam , it's depends on your experience and your transcript. Good luck

Yes you can work as a care assistant while you are waiting for assessment letter from the college which they will review your documents.

I would not be so sure about working as a nursing assistant while waiting for the "college of nurses" decision. Nursing assistants (or nursing aidies) - still need to be lisenced also. Which means that your have to undergo special courses in order to be elligible to work as a Nursing Assistant.

With what? I mean that if your diploma of a nurse is still undegoing assessment process - it is still NOT recognized by any Canadian professional association. Which means that you have NO backgrounds to be elligible to work as Nursing Assistant. NA and RN are different professions so you have to obtain an NA certificate. You see - it's impossible to work as NA without such certificate. And in order to get it - you have to take some courses. That's how it works.

Hello Nurses,
I sent my registration documents to Canada Nursing College in different provinces January 2009 and received temporary registration in September 2009. CARNA (Alberta) will allow you to use your Temp Reg for 18months and during this time you can take the national exam up to 3 times. Alberta Temp Reg remains valid up to 2 years after issue, within this 2 year period you must activate the temp reg or it becomes invalid and hence you have to restart the whole process. Activating the temp reg means you have to get to Canada legally and start working.
Regards J

Hi Nurses,
You can start working as a RN the following day after getting to Canada. As long as you register with one of the Nursing Authorities, you can work as Graduate Nurses until you pass the exams. You will be paid about Ca$2 less but once you pass the exam they will pay you the difference retroactively.
Hope you all start applying for your Temporary Registrations as soon as possible as you will need to submit several documents from your home country's Associations of Nursing to complete the process.
Regards J

Hi The only difference is that you are supervised by another RN who is legally responsible for your actions. Other than that, you do everything that a regular RN does. Hope that helps. Regards J
