If application is "IN-PROCESS" does this mean that application points have been calculated and are at or above pass mark and that application is now at another stage?   No need to worry about points at this stage?  Please advise.

NO - "in process " means that your application was found eligible for processing. And nothing more. Points are calculated at "in process" stage. Just read OP6  Wink

It's short for  - "Operations manuals" - instruction for visa officers on how the PR applications are processes in a step-by-step format.

You can find it here -  www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op06-eng.pdf

Yes!

in process " means that your application was found eligible for processing and BF''D will be tagged on your file for PS and another BF'D for Selection decission. Not until you receive a medical request you will know that you have the necessary points or pass mark.

It's actually YES. please check EG7, pages 40 and 41.

The application won't be moved to the 'processing' phase unless pass mark is confirmed and therefore, refunds aren't allowed.

Cheers

No sir! Application can still be rejected even though ecas says in-process. In process'' is when CHC received your application and found it eligible for processing. Your pass mark is confirmed at a selection stage after this you will receive medical request. If i may ask you, why some applicants were refused  before medical request despite their ecas shows in process'' if a pass mark had been attained at that time there would be no basis for a rejection.

On pages 40 and 41 of EG 7 it is clearly stated that before in process the clients application is only assessed for eligibility for processing  (the application is assessed against the minimal requirements - job experience). Nothing more. And if the application is found eligible - then all other factors are assessed including points calculation. Do not mislead the people.

And please take OP 6 start with the page 20 and pay special attention to pt. 9.6 where the distinction between "eligibility review" and "in process" is explained.  Smiley

I don't know why you're saying I'm misleading people!!! Different interpretations, different perceptions!

Procedure 9.5 reads: "Before placing the application into processing, review the information on the file and determine whether it meets the criteria in the Ministerial Instructions. To be eligible for processing under these Instructions, the applicant must qualify under one of the three categories described in the Ministerial Instructions"

Procedure 9.6 reads:"Where documents are reliable and information is clear, consistent and well-supported the final determination of eligibility can be made quickly. Where this is not the case, the final determination of eligibility will be more involved.

While visa officers must exercise diligence at the final determination stage, they should also complete this stage quickly, i.e. ideally less than two weeks after the deadline set by the CIO. "

We need to differentiate between Eligibility for Review and Processing. This is what the procedures explain.

Once eligibility is established, which is before processing, pass marks are confirmed. At processing phase, the VO will authenticate the documents applicants provide...,then, if any of information provided was concluded to be wrong, then, the applicant will be inadmissible by misrepresentation. This has to be very clear.

We all need to realize that eligibility review is a critical milestone, because simply, once it's positive, then, no refund will be given. Same procedure 9.6 reads "After a positive final determination of eligibility at the visa office processing begins and the applicant is no longer eligible for a refund. "

Cheers
