We just received our visitor visa from NYC. Went on a Tuesday and were asked to come back on Thursday afternoon. So the answer is NO to the same day service(Unless justifiable extreme emergency) . It will be 2nd day(or 3rd day if you appeared on Tuesday) afternoon that you can collect your passport.

planning to attend inperson for TRV in NYC

• will they take I-797 original alogn with passport, or a copy enough

Can you please answer my questions above? I am planning to attend in-person this Thursday in NYC.

The check list from NY website mention of submitting original I-797, original I-94 and old passport.

but the check list from cic.gc.ca indicate submit copies of US immigration docs.

just want to be clear before I go there, so I can sumit the required docs.

I have got Visa approved on 9/22 in NYC - in person. picked up on 9/23 afternoon between 1:00 - 2:30 PM.

They also needed our old passports and original I-94 to verify, and returned them back when we picked up the passports with Visa.
They only needed copies of I -797s.
