Hi, I had submitted an app for extension of visa along with my PR app on Sept 24th. I am aware that first stage approval takes about 6 months. I want to know whether my visa extension approval will come sooner or is that six months too. Since my visa is expiring in Nov 2nd week, I wud like to know if theres any problem travellin within Canada after expiry of visa.

You won't hear anything until after Approval in Principle, but if CPC-Vegreville received your application (and the extension application with it) BEFORE your original status expired, you have "implied status" to remain in Canada until you receive notification about your first stage approval status.

As far as traveling within Canada - your status shouldn't be an issue.  The only time temporary status comes into play is when you're crossing international borders.
