I came on work visa for a year, 5 months later the company was sold. Im married to a Canadian and she will be sponsoring me soon. as Iam in temporary unemployed foreign worker status Im thinking to apply for EI. can that be an excuse for immigration Canada to refuse our sponsorship application?

Being on EI is not a reason to deny your sponsorship. However, it is not certain that you will get EI. Temporary foreign workers are sometimes refused based on not being able to take any job that comes along since you would first need a new LMO and a new work permit before you could start a new job. It is also a question if you managed to get enough hours in 5 months to qualify for EI but you can try applying anyway.

Yeah, just today, I was counting my hours and I worked more than 600 hours, I worked 120 hours a month in 5 = it,s exactly 600 hours. my only concern is that immigration tries to use that as an excuse to deny our application, as they are always looking for any excuse to separate families..

600 hours might not be enough. It depends on the percentage of unemployment where you live:

Immigration is not always looking for excuses to separate families. They just have their own rules and guidelines. One of them is that they will not approve somebody as a sponsor who is on welfare benefits or in active bankruptcy but EI is not welfare.
