Did anyone else get a stamp in their passport when they landed? I didn't. If many others did, maybe I should get the MP to contact the local office or something. Please anyone that have landed, I would GREATLY appreciate your answers. Thanks.

Nope, i didn't get a stamp.
the io only looked at my passport to verify details in the COPR.

Thanks Lovely, congratulation for you too!!I missed that you got decesion made yesterday!

L_Y, I`m not sure whether you can use the OWP or not but give it a try. The IO told me that my current WP doesn`t count no more from today, but I can keep working and keep the temp SIN until I get the permanent. The thing is, my temp SIN card expired on the 12/12/2010 with my previous WP and I couldn`t get it renewed as my new WP got lost in the mail and still sitting somewhere at Post Canada. I do have the number of my new WP, so we`ll see what they are going to say at Service Canada.
I didn`t get a stamp either.

OMG, I feel at a loss for words. So I just found that I still have my work permit... Roll Eyes
So even though I am a PR would I still be allowed to use this to get a SIN card or is it too late?

lol, I'm sure you can still get a temp SIN LY...what made you think that the IO took your OWP away !!!

So I landed today!:) It was the easiest, easiest encounter of my life with CIC, it took exactly 3 minutes. We went in, the IO read my rights as a PR and when I can apply for citizenship, verified my information, sign here, sign there, done- welcome to Canada! I expected that I was going to jump around or something, but it was so quick that we went out and I was still processing what just happened. Truth is, we drove all night from Fort McMurray to Edmonton with my hubby and did not sleep a minute,so I guess my reaction time was way slower than normal anyway. We dressed very nicely, because we thought that it is something formal and ended up waiting in the line among people all dressed very causally. My husband was wearing a suit, ties and started joking that we looked like we were supposed to go to see a fancy opera and ended up on a cheap musical and like he could say at least once in his life, that he was the best dressed person in the whole building lol.Smiley
I have to wait for my PR card to get a permanent SIN, such like Love_Young, and I very dislike it too. I don`t know why we can`t get it right away, it adds another 6-8 weeks on top.Sad
Oh yes, my son was in such a good mood during the landing that he rolled his little truck all over the papers that I had to sign and was talking to the IO in his baby blabber. I was tense, because I developed some panic attack like reactions throughout the years dealing with any immigration stuff. Then the IO told me: isn`t it so nice to see these happy little fellas, they are the future of this country? and I felt that this was the fist human reaction I ever got from any government agent, it almost made me cry.
Well, I`m going to sleep well for sure and try to talk to the local Service Canada once I get back home whether there is anything that can be done to speed up getting the SIN number.
Sorry for the rant, I haven`t slept for more that 30 hours.

Nice story ditto and welcome to the PR club !!!! I guess in 3 years, we may all be applying for citizenship together !

Because hubby had told me she did when I asked where it was. I had looked my folder up and down and I couldn't find it.
I look again tonight and there it was..  Embarrassed Roll Eyes So what would I say at Service Canada though?

ditta: All my IO told me was that as of that day I don't need it anymore to work.

Thanks Lilly, I have only 2 years to go if I want to apply for citizenship. I haven`t given a lots of thought if I want to be a citizen and when.

L_Y. Do you have the series number of the OWP? If not call the Call Centre and find out. I agree with Lilly, I don`t know why she did take it, you could use it probably to cover that time until your PR card arrives. If you go to Service Canada tell that the IO who landed you took it, maybe by mistake.

I only have 2 years to go too.
And actually hubby and I thought she took it but we just found it tonight in the folder. We must have over looked it.
Are you going to ask Service Canada? I am afraid of going because they might think I am misrepresenting myself with the work permit and trying to say I am a temporary person when I am permanent now. That's not the case though. I just really need to get either a temporary or permanent one soon. I would really hate to wait almost 2 months or longer. Ugh... Are you going to contact them too about this issue? I would love to know how it goes.

Yeah I am thinking I will. Should I contact my local office or CIC? And if I contact the local office, how do I find their information to contact them?

But I think I have bad news ditta for our SIN. It says this on the site for documents needed:

"Permanent residents

Permanent Resident Card issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. This is the only acceptable document if your claim was processed in Canada."

Isn't this the dumbest thing you ever heard? Ugh...at least we are in this together girl. I will say it again, our friendship is a unique one and our processes are so a like it is crazy. All the way around our processes have been alike.

Just found out that PR cards take an average of 33 business days to arrive. That doesn't count weekends or holidays.
So if I count from that then I should be expecting to receive mine around July 19th or somewhere around that week.
Here is hoping either the Canada Post strike doesn't last long or that CIC has a backup mailing service to use.
At least having it under 2 months would be nice.  Cheesy

Thank you, thank you. That is a good idea. What do you think I should tell my MP?

Make letter address to the MP asking his assistance for issuance of temporary SIN. That letter the MP will attach along with his recommendation to the CIC. Only MP could help. No one else got the authority in this regard. Say you need the job to support etc...,give all the possible circumstances you really need to work this time. Attach husband medical findings, medicine prescriptions, bills to pay etc. Straight forward letter address to MP, address, Subject,Dear Sir, please see enclosed (your landing COPR and other docs. you received upon landing) but the most important thing is you were not issued SIN.  To please assist you with your request of immedicate issuance of temporary SIN etc...

Thank you very much for your kind consideration in this regard.

Yours truly,
Mr. and Mrs.________

Great advice, thank you for taking the time to write back. Hubby and I will definitely consider this route.
However, it has taken me a while to cool down about the fact of waiting longer but now I am a bit more content with situation.
Guess that seems strange doesn't it?!  Roll Eyes

Just thought I would let you know but e-Cas just updated now and is now saying the following!

"We received your application for permanent residence on July 16, 2010.

We started processing your application on September 22, 2010.

We received the requested information on January 13, 2011. Thank you for providing the information.

A decision has been made and you will be contacted.

Medical results have been received.

We sent you a letter on May 20, 2011 to ###, ###, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, ###### about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us. If we have sent the letter to the wrong address, please contact us.

You entered Canada at the St John's office on June 1, 2011 and became a Permanent Resident."

YIPPEE!!!! I am so happy right now.
Finally hitting me that I am one and life is so great now and I am very blessed. By the way, I made a screen cap and I will be framing this. Lol. I feel it is something we can always look at and see how far we have come. Also, something to show our future children.
