I was just wondering... any of us inlanders now thinking they should have applied outland? A year ago and even when I applied AIP was being done in 6 mths. I think what happened, when a lot off people saw this they chose inland and according the CIC agents, they are swamped which is why there is a backlog and AIP in 8-9 mths. Oh... that too. Why don't they just say 9 mths on the website? I don't know of many people getting it in 8 mths recently. I was going to apply via Buffalo but then I thought about needing a US visa if they called for an interview and I chose inland because my home visa office is taking 7-15 mths. I do already have an OWP and employed full time so I guess I should not be stressing so much. I guess the fact of not seeing my mother in over 5 years is getting to me . Pardon my rambling. I am usually not this verbose here . How about other inland applicants here? Do you mind sharing the timeline of your home visa office if you had gone outland and do you ever have second thoughts. I know when you wake up with your partner every day... all the second thoughts fly out the window though . Welcome Tuggie Suenim- I can't remember a time that case processing times have been this backlogged. It is our unfortunate luck, but just as you said... Waking up to your husband or wife each morning makes it worth it everyday. Just thinking of all the moments that I would have missed with my husband makes me appreciate having him here and having applied inland. Question: Did anyone on here use a representative? If you did..did you and your rep recieve a copy of your AIP simultaniously?...or did you have to wait for your rep to contact you befor you knew anything?

According to CIC you should not travel until you land, even if you are at the AIP stage. Some people have done it and been allowed back in but it is a big gamble. It is an even bigger gamble if you are from a country that requires a visa. This is from the CIC intruction PDF "Leaving Canada can automatically cancel temporary resident status as a visitor, student or worker...Have no guarantee that you will be permitted to return or re-enter Canada if you leave before permanent residence is approved. This is especially true if a visitor visa is required." This is one of the downsides to applying inland.

Once I asked a CIC call agent about travelling. I'm from a country that not requieres a visa. She said yes, I can travel but they are normally do not recommend because after you come back they have to make your background check and medicals one more time to make sure that nothing is happened in that time you were abroad.

Not advisable to leave while in inland process.. don't forget the thread of the mexican woman who left to attend the funeral of her mom only to be denied of a visa to return at the embassy in Mexico City... Just like MexicaTica wrote (quoting CIC), it's in black and white for everybody to see.

Excellent news, my fellow inlanders 2010ers!!!!!!!!... 'Approach for landing' instructions. Nice brown envelope arrived in today's mail. This one is a normal letter size one (unlike the bigger and lighter ones with AIP or OWP in them), the word Canada stamped at the back. Heavier in weight as it has 3 pages in it. In it finally, my COPR appointment!!... For the middle of next month!... Yiiiiipppppppppppppppppy!. Good luck everyone!, Rob.
