WOW so much good news today!
So relieved that the timelines are moving up.
And Material CONGRATULATIONS on the AIP. Can you tell us a bit about the interview?

Today, we finally NETFILED hubby's tax return. Wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be.
We redid the returns and thank goodness we did because we messed up on the others and would have owed almost $300 we weren't supposed to, phew. Thanks TeresaLynn for all your tax help. Can't wait to get this refund. Just need to mail my return in now.
And so he should get his refund in 8-10 days right? Now, I just have to figure out my US taxes....ugh yuck! Sad

I Just wanted to thank every1 for all their help and support this is a great site without you guys I would have been lost!!!

Here is how it all went:

Both my wife and I were requested to be at the interview for those who don't know me I'm the sponsor. Knowing that we have an interview and after getting help from the wonderful people on here I started putting together a binder that had all the proof of our relationship I made sure it was neat and tidy , I had a lot of pictures developed at Wal-Mart about 75 before marriage and 84 after. We got there about an hour and 15 min earlier we waited until it was about 8:10 in the morning that's when the officer cam out and called my wife's name offcourse we were nervous and stressed out but my first impression of the officer was that she was ok and didn't seem to be too grumpy we all went into the booth together where she sat down behind a computer and introduced herself than she began gathering all the information and proof that we had put together By the time she was done with the papers she started browsing through the pictures she asked my wife a couple of questions about the pictures the questions were:

Who are those people in this pic?
where was this?

There weren't too many questions though, after that she said ok now Im going to start asking questions about your relationship but I'm not sure if I'm going to separate you.(I think by the time she went through the proof I had prepared she was 95% sure that our marriage is real) she didn't ask too many questions here are some of which I remember:

Where and when did you meet? And how did your relationship develop?
Do any of you have any scars or birth marks?
What are your plans for the future?

We answered those questions together sometimes I would ask her if she wanted me to answer or my wife and her response was that it doesn't matter so we were comfortable first that we were together and second because the officer was great! After she was done she went to make a couple of copies of some of my wife's ID and of the marriage licence (I forgot to include a copy but I had the originals with me).

When she came back I had a little box of collectables from our relationship I have collected them back from university when our relationship first started (I'm not a psycho but we were madly in love) in the box I had tissues that had different scents of perfume that my wife used I had a paper which had a drawing of her hand , lipstick, parts of paper cups that had marks that were made by her lipstick and a piece of her hair an so on....

The officer smiled when I was showing her the collectables and asked to see some of the stuff after that she said I would like to inform you that I will be granting you AIP  Cry Cry Wink Wink Smiley Smiley and you will be receiving a letter with in two weeks. hats when a big smile drew over our faces and I felt a strange feeling in my chest that feeling was slowly creeping to my legs (I wanted to get out of there before I start jumping up and down like an idiot)
She escorted us out I think i said a million thankyous along the way !!And that was it I know were not done yet but it was a big relief and also a very important step in our process.

Introduction.. Finally found this forum and it seems to be great help, not only for people who are applying but for sponsors as well.

Now to the govmt app.. We applied for perm res for her in October 2010 and to this day haven't heard anything. Is that normal? It's almost 5 month..

Also my girl has been working already with a company for 2 years on her post grad work permit (she studied in Canada), which has now expired. We have tried to get a new work visa for her, but they basically stated that foreign nationals can't apply until Perm res application is determined to be processed in Canada. No idea exactly what that means.

Now does she have to quit her job and wait till the monkeys in Vegerville do their job?
Sorry for sounding sarcastic, but have a crying wife here which sucks.

ok guys there are joking, but they were noobs here too days before and were asking same questions. so anyways.

if seriously, please read this: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp

thats the site of CIC. we all had to read it, if we want to understand how everything works.
i already said before (that is my post bellow urs, which u didnt read) that lately u hear about ur application only after 9-10 months, when ur AIP is granted/or ur file transfered to local office.
about the work permit if her employer doesnt want to extend the work permit for her then u gotta wait for Open work permit. did u apply for it together with ur application?
since ur wife had a work permit, there should be her client ID. did u try to log in with that ID to CIC site to check ur application status? : https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/?app=ecas&lang=en

good luck. and pls read the info first.

Asta, we only paid the $475 plus $75. Do we have to pay $150 for a work permit? Doesn't that come with AIP?

did u send ur application already? if not, u have to add application for open work permit and pay 150. sending it together with application will get ur OWP together with AIP. if u sent ur application without OWP then have to request for it after u receive AIP. if u sent application just now u can send OWP request separately and in cover letter ask them to add it to ur application and ask to procede it AFTER they grant ur AIP. and write that on the envelope of OWP request, that "to procede after AIP" or smth like that. cause they sometimes mess it up and procede ur OWP before AIP and ofcourse deny it. and ur money is wasted. so best way to request for OWP - together with application or after AIP.

what about visa extention? u have to have a legal status in Canada. when ur visa expires? if u request for OWP, then u dont need to extend ur visa. hope that helps. ask if smthing is not clear Wink

Hi adzees

I think you might be right bcos your answer is totally the same as the CIC call center  Grin
I was just trying to "reduce" the waiting time.....I know it's silly... Smiley
Thanks for being so kind to give me the advise.....

We have recieved AIP in Jan, my husbands son is included on the application. From what I hear, the average wait time until a child oversea's recieves their request for medical to be done is approx 3 months.

We haven't heard andything yet, but we are hoping that they will send him his medical request anyday now.

My husband cannot be landed until this is done

I hope this helps a little.

Hi Janadian

Thanks a lot for sharing your case. It might be hard for you during the waiting time, especially when you're waiting for something you can't control/make by yourself.

I received a mail from CTOT (CIC's local office in Taiwan) last night about the medical examination that I've asked them before. They said people usually just wait for their request but they don't mind if I want to do it advanced  Roll Eyes I'm thinking to give it a try, I hope I'm not too silly  Wink

Anyway, I believe you'll hear a good news anytime from now, it might be very soon. The best wishes for you and I'm looking forward to hear good news from you.
