Oh forgot to mention that she did stamped his passport and attached the COPR to it and told us once we receive his PR card to detach the COPR from his passport and keep it in a safe place as he will need it for PR card renewal, application for citizenship and old age pension ().  She then threw our OWP in the trash and told us we don't need it now as he is already a PR.  He can continue working using his temporary SIN until we receive his PR card at that time he can apply for a permanent SIN.

Thanks LoveYoung!  We ended up shopping for baby stuff after the landing interview and hubby decided to buy me a dining set for our first year anniversary (well he was actually going to buy me an Ipad 2 but kinda convinced him the dining set will be better and it is more expensive lol!).  He has was teasing me that this day is so expensive!

I'll send you a message on FB tomorrow to ask how have you been.  We just moved and we didn't have internet for almost a week!

Congrats but that doesn't seem right about the SIN card. They will not issue you a permanent SIN without your PR card.

Its been days me and hubby confused about this OWP and temp. Sin, especially we got no copy and inaddition to what CIC agent said they sent me an OWP with a Sin? Ooops..head ached. Now, I came to realize what that lady in Service Canada trying to say why I need OWP and temp.SIN if my landing date for PR is within 3 weeks time. I might as well wait for Permanent Sin that start with 6 on landing date.
Right she is, now it makes sense. I could now relate the whole situation of OWP and temp. SIN. It has no use in my case since I got approval on both stages and PR landing came too soon. At this point, landing first is more priority than worrying about this temp or permanent SIN. I could wait 3 more weeks on my landing date for permanent SIN. OWP and temp.SIN is at best needs if waiting for 2nd stage approval.

Well I am still not feeling too great and need more tests done but thank you so much for the kind words.
I just added you to the chart. And no, that is incorrect. You need to go get his temporary SIN with his OWP BEFORE landing. Trust me, I made this mistake. Now I can't work and need to wait to get my PR card before getting my permanent SIN card. If he goes ahead and gets his temporary one then he can continue to work on it while he waits for the PR card to come in then when he gets it, he can go get his permanent SIN card. Don't make the same mistake I did. I was approved for both at the same time and landed two weeks later. But when I went to Service Canada they said that I would need to wait for my PR card so now I am waiting another 1-2 months just to start working even though I am now a PR. Don't subject yourself to that.

By the way guys, look at that incredible processing time. WOW almost 9 months. Already 1 month less than most of us had to wait. That is just terrific. Sorry for taking so horribly long to update but I could not sleep tonight and thought to update it now while I had the chance. If there are any mistakes, please let me know. Also, to those that have landed, please list the city you are landing in.

It just seems cool to see the cities that get the most immigrants. I will try to keep up with the chart more guys. Thank you for being so patient with me. GOOD LUCK to everyone still waiting and I hope this chart keeps you hopeful as well as this thread. And CONGRATULATIONS to all those that are now PR's or have obtained AIP that is just wonderful. The point LY is,  you are now landed immigrant. You made no mistake about that OWP/temp. Sin. It's the circumstances that puts you into that situation. BTW, I am the applicant  and lovely20 is the sponsor. Hey lovely20, binabati ko kayo ni Mr.I sent you a PM.
As I mentioned earlier, 2 or 3 months wait for PR card to get you a SIN to work makes no difference as we all been patience long enough.

But I am just trying to explain that unless you have a temporary SIN before you land, you will not be able to work or get your SIN until after getting your PR card. If you don't mind waiting 2-3 months more after becoming a PR to actually work, then you'll be okay.

Wrong!!! you do not need to have PR Card in order to apply for SIN Card...

You DO need your PR card if you are applying for your Permanent SIN card at a Service Canada office.

However some CIC local office(+Service Canada) offer the opportunity for those who are landing to get the permanent SIN with the COPR only at the same day after the landing is done; I have heard a couple of cases.

As soon as I got my OWP I went to Service Canada office and applied for a temporary SIN, it's free I thought I didn't have anything to lose anyways.
Now waiting for PR card to get the permanent SIN since at the day of my landing Service Canada officers weren't around.

I definitely encourage everybody to get the temporary SIN as soon as you have your OWP. If you don't have a SIN you won't be allowed to work.

I think the way of applying SIN depends on difference local offices.

Yeah, I definitely encourage the same. Even if you are landing shortly after getting it. It is worth getting the temporary one then realizing you can't get one at all.

You're very welcome! I think it is only those local offices that are lucky enough to have a Service Canada office in the same building as where they are landing. I wish mine had been that way. By the way thanks for the PM, I corrected the chart.
