kiwikris: Thanks so much. Yes I am aware that it could take up to 2 years to get PR. It's all cool with me really, I really want to stay there with him so I really don't mind. It's tough being apart. We definitely want to do inland. What're the interviews like?

Loveyoung: It's fine we all have our grumpy days lol Thanks a lot though I am reading now.

Congrats everybody for your good news!!! Smiley
Just a quick question: Do they update the e cas on weekends, or I'm going crazy, cheching and checking for nothing? Huh LOL

Usually only once a week although some people have logged in the odd time and seen an update!

Congrats Asta on starting your new job, you will get your energy back in no time! Smiley Hope you get your PR card soon! Then you will be complete....lets not start talking about applying for citizenship just yet though, I hear that is another battle all together and you need to re group Smiley Good luck with your future here in Canada.

Toxicair - yeah just wanting to make sure people know the timeline as I didn't realise the full extent when we applied and by the time we found out about outland it was too late to change it all over. I didn't have an interview so couldn't give you first hand info on that but by the sounds of it they can vary depending who you get. I wouldn't worry about it at this stage though, just get the application ready as best as you can and once you send it off still keep collecting proof in case they ask for more from the time when you sent in the application. Good luck Smiley

Found this info on the "Getting a job in Canada sucks" thread and think it could be beneficial to us as well Smiley

From Miguel de Cervantes

"There is an "Immigration Settlement and Integration Services" in almost (if not every) province and territory. I've noticed that on the website they are able to find work placement, where you would work in your field for 4-6 weeks without pay. Chances are that company would then hire you, but even if not, you would then have Canadian experience, contacts, and references. Just type "Immigration Settlement and Integration Services" in Google, and choose the site of the province you are in. They also offer courses like CPR, First Aid, WHMIS, and different computer courses, or tips on how to take an interview"

Thx L_Y..........iprobably should wait until i get official notification....well they kept asking for copies of documents...all of which i sent in with the original (i kept copies of all original docs)...but i don;t argue i just comply....this time when i talked to her she said everything else looked ok and they just needed this doc (copy of divorce in Korea) which we have with translation, so i faxed it to her while we were talking on the phone.   we keep fingers crossed and again thanks for your dedication and good nature

You're welcome! Smiley
I will wait to fill in the chart then but I guess I am excited to fill it in. Please let me know as soon as you get the letter.
Sounds like they must have made their last decision about faxing that in. Woo so happy for you, I know you have been waiting for FOREVER. So glad you got the decision made though and that you shared it with us. And you are welcome. I really do try to help everyone here and when I hear people say that to me, it makes me day so much better. Thank you!

Thanks for being so understanding toxicair. Guess after all this waiting, you have your days. And you are really welcome.
I hope my advice helps a lot. You were blessed to have so many here help you. Gathering all of that ahead of time is great for you. You are already on the right road by doing research, asking questions, and coming here. I believe you both will do a wonderful job on your application. Good luck!

Wow thanks for the helpful tip kiwikris. I love how helpful we are in trying to help everyone settle here comfortably. So heartwarming.
How can I find my local one though? I am afraid they won't have one here.
And another question, do you think they would allow me to use the settlement programs with just AIP or would I have to wait for PR?
It would be a bit frustrating to wait don't you think. I know here they have where you can take a 3-4 month internship program without pay but you get a permanent job at the end of it. Sounds good to me. Smiley

Thanks LY, I do hope it does help some people.  Grin I believe you would be able to do the settlement program after AIP as you can get a work visa then so I don't see why not. It sounds like a great idea for you as you get Canadian work experience and you don't have much work experience, depends on finances as well.  I just needed AIP to have access to my free French classes which I start tomorrow night! Soo excited! Smiley Plus all the other things at the Y thagt they have on offer, courses, help with jobs, interviews etc. Even though we may speak english...sometimes what they say means something different here!

This site has links for every province for newcomers

Just like suenim I think I also read it at least 20 times..
