4 months today since they received our application.
Hopefully just another 5 months and we will have happiness. Or at least I am praying so.

How is everyone else holding up? Getting ready for Christmas yet?

I have a work permit (WHP). Entering that number on e-Cas doesn't give anything, though...

Since usually people see their first "In progress" two months after mailing, I suppose I need to be patient for another month (I'll admit right away I'm not very good at it). Sad

Welcome to the club Jurjen, I am also not good at waiting Smiley It is good you can work though it makes a BIG difference. In another month you may only see that they received you application and it is in process.  It is good to know they are "working on it" though and if you are like me I check mine everyday....just in case! lol

Love_young that is a pain you are not able to log in and see anything at all  Shocked
I am looking forward to a white christmas though...I'm used to summer hehehhe

I agree, I wish they would process the work permit first.
Things would be so much easier that way.

So how are all of you passing the time?
It hasn't even been a week since mine was received and I already feel like I am going insane.

Hi,
Do you think they will issue work permit faster that PR? I was told that you have to submit ur PR application with open work permit, but it will be sent to you together with PR, so it means they just want your 150CAD but won't do anything for you...
another question: when you send your application to Vergeville how fast do you receive answer from them saying that you are eligible for PR, it's imprtant for me because then you can apply for OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan)?

thank you for answers.
BTW I'm in the same situation here, no work, no studies...being housewife for 2 years and who knows how much longer. It's so frustrating!

You are only eligible for PR when the whole process is over. Some people are lucky and getting PR in 9-10 months, but some processes may take up to 12-18 months. it all depends on your background, and how busy CIC Vegreville is.
-You may be able to apply for OHIP once you have reached the first stage, which takes 9 months, when you can apply for an Open Work Permit if you haven't sent it w your application. Smiley

Hi,

I have a question about Schedule 1 IMM 5002. Question 9. Addresses. So I live in Canada  with my spouse, should I put that address as my most recent? and if yes then until what date? because they ask you dates in this address FROM... TO.... Do I leave blank or put todays date?

Question 8. if I am unemployed, do I need to write what city and country Im in unemployed? Like now I m in canada unemployed, so I put canada or leave blank?

thank you if somebody can answer Smiley

Did you mean eligible for Work Permit when whole process is over? I mean maybe I didnt write it clear before, but I am confused about open work permit application. If you send it together with your PR applocation, can you expect to receive Work Permit before you are granted Permanent Residency.

You get the OWP after you have received AIP which is taking 8-9 mths now. PR is finalized about 3-9 mths after AIP... sometimes more. But you can get OWP and OHIP after first stage of approval.

Guys, may anyone tell me whether I should pay 150$ if I switch from work permit to visitor visa? Or 75$ as it counts an extention of temporary resident status? It might seem a stupid question but I`m not sure. Thanks, have a good week everyone! Smiley

Hi,

I think there is your answer:

Note: It is not necessary to make a separate application for an extension of temporary resident status when you apply for a work or study permit. The officer will issue all the necessary documentation with one application.

from CIC website from Applying to change conditions or extend your stay in Canada — Visitor (IMM 5551)

First state of approval.

Immigration office once told me that in order to extend legal stay in canada it's enough to submit Open Work Permit with my PR apliction. Has anyone heard the same?

Thanks Maja, it`s still not clear though. I`ve been on work permit for two years and it will expire soon, my employer asked for a new LMO for me but I don`t want to wait any longer for it, I would like to change my status to visitor and make sure I have status. If you have a work permit you have a temporary resident status under your WP, question is if you change it for visitor is that an extention or a new visitor visa application?

u can ask for open work permit, it will cover ur visitor visa extension. but if u applied or PR already without Open work permit, when u ask for it, ask to proceed it after u receive approval in principal.

having open work permit u will be able to work any job. having visa extension u wont be able to work at all.
