Inland Application and Travel

Hi,

I am have an Inland Application for PR in process but are planning to go and visit my grandparents in Germany for two weeks. Will this have any influence on my application? Or problem when returning? I do hold a valid work visa which is valid until June 2010. And also are a German Citizenship.

It is advised not to travel while you have an inland application in process because if you were refused entry for any reason, your application is toast.  However, you might be fine getting back.  It's your risk to take.

Thanks. That is exactly my information. However, being a German Citizen and generally being excempt of a visa, plus my valid work permit. There should be no reason that they refuse my re-entry. Do you think it is a too big risk to take?

I think it's unlikely that they'd refuse your entry.

I hope you are right. Otherwise me and my fiancee would be pretty screwed.

Worst case, you'd have to make an outland application and hang out in Germany while you wait for it :-/

Umm well I really hope it will not happen, we have a mortgage to pay etc. and are getting married in January. I better be around ;-)

That's not an option. He has a daughter here and joint custody. Plus i have no real ties in Germany anymore. I have been living in canada for almost 6 years. Time to get this settled once and for all :-)

Information:

German citizen with an electronic european passport; don't usually need a visa to enter Canada, just a work permit to work, or a study permit to study.

Entry shouldn't be a problem, BUT!!!   it depends on the case.

Request your CAIPS from here http://www.caips.ca/ after 30 days, you'll find out if they have any particular remarks on your file, + I would also advice you to go to the nearest IMMIGRATION OFFICE IN CANADA, or to write to them, Ask them for permission to leave, or let them know you are traveling for visiting Grand parents, & that it's urgent.

A Visa doesn't grantee entry in Canada. it's all about how would you handle yourself at the point of Entry with the officier, & what's on your CAIPS file.   that's all.

Being paranoid is a good thing with CIC, you never know,
Also if you can afford it, take your spouse/common law parnter with you, so it looks even better that she met your family, & it would be much easier to come back if she accompanies you.

I am just wondering what that file really is going to change. I already know that I have a red flag in my file because I was refused entry in early 2006, that however was because I left while I had an extension request pending. So when you leave then those become obsolete. They always pull me out and question me. My timelines are application to send out in about one week and my flight to Germany goes out 9. May - 24 . May - so they might not have even put the PR application on my file? Not sure. I understand I cannot get a guarantee but my grandparents are really old and I just want to make sure I can spend some time with them before - who knows...so I am trying to get figure out my chances. If they are too high to take then I can always to send in my application at the end of May....however that again brings me to the point where I may have to start getting some documents again. Stupid situation. I will try call CIC and see what they say.
