To answer ur first question according to CIC website it takes 10 to 11 months to get approved as sponsor(1st stage ) and 9 months for ur spouse to get  PR (2nd stage).
Your second question about how to che check progress of ur applicaton u can use the ID client number of ur  spouse or immigration receipt in the CIC Ecase page of CIC website (now approving October  29 applications hoping they have an awsome big jump today)

thanks for your help, i dont have a client number so i try using my receipt number but its not showing up at the moment, guess i will still have to wait  a long time

I am from a country that is visa exempt,allow to stay up to 6 months without a visa, but i have submitted my application to get a extension while my application is in process , because my six months run out on oct 3.

Hi Cari! When you receive your visa extension, you will get a "client ID number" that number is the same they'll use for your
sponsorship application. You will be able then to check your status. It never work for me with the receipt nbr.

thank you angtao for including me in the list and i will update you as soon as there will be changes in my ecas..just wondering if i can get already my open work permit this coming nov-dec?or OWP will come if you have passed the first stage approval?hoping that someone here will keep me updated especially on my june 2011 application..will be all joining force and still praying that theres no problem would come along our way..

is there anyone applied inland and  used the old forms after July 18th?
Did you include an IMM0008 in your package?
If so, did you inlcude the old or new version?
On CIC's website, it says all applicantion under family class must have an IMM0008 form. Not like the old outland application package which includes an IMM0008 already. The old inland package have IMM5002, which asks for similar question to IMM0008, thus I am not sure whether its necessary to include IMM0008 in addition to IMM5002. Moreover, CIC doesn't specify which version of IMM0008 to be included with other old forms.

SMA, I would call CIC and ask them unless someone on here can answer. Maybe some of you that sent there's in after July 18?

Since you only submitted in June, it might be too early to see anything in your FOSS notes.  There might be a few notes here and there but don't get disappointed if there are nothing in your FOSS yet.  We were on our 7th month of waiting when we requested for it.

hie everyone here is my situation ;

application recieved by nov 29, 2010
processing started on jan 13, 2011
info requested received on april, 13, 2011
info requested received on oct 4, 2011

now, apart from medicals received on april 13, 2011, what else could they have received on oct 4, 2011??? i understand second stage processing checks all security checks and i submitted my out of country police clearance certificate in july 2011, though i sent it to t9c 1w3 by mistake instead of t9c1w5.  im wondering wat else are they saying they recently received? any ideas anyone? thanks.
