Thank you qw123 for your quick and detailed answer, just want to confirm two things about RCMP clearance. 1.You sent RCMP clearance which says no cirminal record, not just the fingerprint, right? 2. You asked RCMP to send your clearance to CIC directly, or you asked RCMP to send it to you, and you then sent it to CIC with your other docs? There seems to have a place on the RCMP clearance application form asking for your CIC ID number and the office deals with your application. If you want the result sent to you, how did you deal with the form?
for your fist point: i did not do mine on paper so couldnt get to send any fingerpint card...as i said i did it electronically and that's it...if you go to the agency you will see they will offer electronic...do that and after couple of weeks you will get the clearance letter automatically from RCMP saying you have no crimes done...this is the letter you will send and not your actual print to CIC. you have nothing to asked to anyone to send what to where. it"s automated.

I keep reading about RCMP for fingerprint or police report, I thought it was the one from the immigrant origin country that was needed in the file ? My wife is from Germany and we sent her police clearance report she had requested in Germany just before she came and we also got a certified french translation of it. Will we need to also go to RCMP for fingerprint ?

Only if CIC requests it. It's generally NOT required.

Since you just requested the OWP by mail, they may take a few more days/weeks to process it. Next time, do it online, they take 7 - 10 days. Good luck!

I think it all depend... My boyfriend was asked to do his when he got AIP, he was in canada for 1 1/2 year.. And had travelled/lived in lots of countries... Might e the reason why they asked! It was fast to do it and we asked RCMP to send it to vegreville. Took 10 days and it was done.... We are still for PR thought.... Long long wait! What i have learn from this site... Each file is different !

I wish this will cheer you guys up!
CIC received our application on August 8, 2011. Sometime over the long weekend (happy Canada Day!) The status was changed to "decision made" for sponsorship application status, and "in progress" for permanent residence application status.
We sent our application to Vegreville, AB. CIC did request a client history update and it was sometime early in February, 2012.
Further, for those of you living in BC - once you lived here for longer than six months, apply for your health insurance immediately! We received the care card in November, 2011. My spouse arrived Vancouver in February, 2011 and we traveled for two weeks in May.
Almost forgot to mention - we used the old form without those bar codes.

Hello chufamily! that's great news, thanks for sharing. I have a question for you: what did your ecas said before it changed to decision made? my app was received on august 11 and up to now my ecas never changed.. it still just says "we received your app on august 11, 2011 - and that's it, it has NEVER been updated. thanks in advance.

Thanks for making me check I got the ""Medical results have been received."" over the weekend Mine was12 months old on June 22nd.. So what's next? My understanding is that it means they've extended our medical, so the next step is our background checks. We did ours with our initial application so their shouldn't be any delays. We hope.
