Quick question:
1. After sending your PR application, how many months does it take for CIC to send a sponsor acknowledgment letter? Is is 11-12 months?
2. After you do your medicals in a DMP, how long does it take for results to be available to Ottawa doctors of CPC. Thanks.
Thanks!
1. They have only recently started sending a letter to let you know they have received your application. I didn't get one, but other people here on the forum seem to have them within two months of sending their app. It's basically when the mailroom opens the envelope. 2. DMP's will send the results to Ottawa within two weeks. Vegreville will only request the file from Ottawa after AIP is granted

Well you got it partially...the coverage begins 3 months later after you apply. However emergencies like accidents and if you are a woman all pregnancy and related its checkups including labor are covered right away upon applying.
They said 3 month from the letter's date... also remember than assurance maladie and ohip are not exactly the same... The good thing is that my husband is not pregnant for sure, we don't have to wwory on that one... LOL!

GOOD NEWS FOR ALL AND EVERYONE WHO ARE AWAITING FOR PR TO BE PROCESS WHETHER AIP YET OR NOT AND ARE APPLYING FROM QUEBEC
Please know that if you are sponsored by your spouse AND you are still in school AND you still have a valid study permit AND you have CSQ:::::: THEN YOU ARE QUALIFIED FOR LOWER FEES SAME AS QUEBEC RESIDENTS. IT'S THE LAW UNDER MINISTRY OF QUEBEC WEBSITE SINCE 2007.

Berber, have a look through the forum. Someone from April already got approved.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the reason why there is a 3 month wait for Ohio? What is the reason behind this?

Berber, have a look through the forum. Someone from April already got approved.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the reason why there is a 3 month wait for Ohio? What is the reason behind this?
Generally speaking, there is a three-month waiting period for Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) coverage. It applies to most new applicants for coverage and former residents returning to Canada after living in other countries for long periods. Please note that on April 1, 2009, changes were made to the OHIP eligibility rules under Regulation 552 of the Health Insurance Act.
Is anyone exempt from the waiting period?
Several groups are exempt from the waiting period. These include, but are not limited to :
newborn babies born in Ontario; OHIP-eligible adopted children under the age of 16; protected persons (Convention Refugees and persons in need of protection); and people from another province/territory who move directly into a long-term care facility in Ontario, or who require admittance into a long-term care facility within 3 months of arrival in Ontario. As a result of the April 1, 2009 changes, individuals who hold a valid Temporary Resident Permit (issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)) are now subject to the three-month waiting period. Note: this does not apply to Temporary Resident Permit holders who have been determined by CIC to be a Convention Refugee or person in need of protection. This is the link for the page: http://www.health.gov.on.ca/english/public/pub/ohip/wait.html

11 months (initial assessment)... hum.. I forgot what was before Here's summary of the last 2 updates: ON Feb 23, 2012 : Now processing March 8, 2011 ON Feb 29, 2012 : Now processing March 22, 2011 ON Mar 7, 2012 : Now processing April 11, 2011 Looks like the formula used by Processing Period Chart is this: An average of 17 days of jump for every 1 week If my Math is correct, applying geometric series estimation, this means cutting the processing time for Stage 1 every month. So that means, by April 2012, they will be processing June 2011 applications. Then by June 2012, they will be processing Oct 2011. Then by July 2012, they will be processing Dec 2011 applications.
