Information on Canada Visitor Visa

My Husband is currently in Canada with a Worker Visa valid till August'2012.
As per the information from his company he have to extend his stay for another couple of years.
Company will take care of the Visa extension.Currently I am in india and is working.
He applied for a Dependent Visa with OWP for me.
His company had taken care of the processing but has handed me a VISITOR visa
till March'2012.
But I want to leave my job and join my husband after November this year.
Please let me know , how can I extend my stay in  Canada with my Husband for next couple of years.
How long does that takes and what are the procedures for the same.
Also, i would be greatful ,if you could kindly let me know ,is there any chance for me to have a job in canada.
Looking for your valuable inputs on this.

dnt b upset, have u got visitor visa, whn ur husband went to canada , if u already got visa , whn u got it? just go to canada on visitor visa , once u will arrive der , u can change ur visitor visa to open work permit, it simple process nt at all complicated, n buy return ticket while going to canada bcoz dey may ask u some questions at port of entry

Can you let me know the time it takes to recieve an OWP.

approx one month bt u hve 2 go through police clearance n medical examination in canada, by da way
in which embassy u applied for da visa ?

OWP takes longer than a month check the processing times(for Vegreville, Alberta) on the CIC website. And you dont need police clearance and medical examination. The medical is only required if you will be working in certain fields for eg. primary or secondary school teacher.

Ask you husband to send you a copy of his current WP (hopefully it's skilled type of job). Present this together with your marriage certificate at POE and let the officer know you want to apply for an OWP.
