Info regarding work visa

Hey all,

Is there someone that can possibly answer this question. How does the issue of the work visa work? Apparently work visa's have all been reduced to a year, once issued, how long do they give you to enter? or is the year valid from date of issue?

Why I am asking this is, once issued it could take a worker a couple of months to leave his home country, does that give you for instance 2 month less off your visa?

I hope someone has some answers.
