Info needed - Applying for wp under NAFTA agreement

I am currently here in Canada on a temporary work permit (only able to work at one company for a certain period of time.) I have a job offer now as a biomedical engineer. (My training and career in Mexico 4 year univeristy degree). I want to apply for a new work permit under the NAFTA agreement... Can I apply for this change of work permit within Canada or must I leave Canada and apply for the new work permit at the port of entry. Any details pertaining to working in Canada under NAFTA would be appreciated. What is required from me and the employer if i can get a work permit under the NAFTA agreement for professionals from Mexico....

I'm thinking on look for a Job under the NAFTA, let see how the others respond, I just know that now it last 3 years:
