Hi Gurus,

I have received work permit under NOC level A high skilled job position for more than 1.5 year. I am currently in my home country (India) and will be flying to Canada in few weeks of time. Now I need to apply visa for my dependant. I have seen lot of threads having info about "Open Work Pemit" for dependant but I have not received info about the processing time of the same. As per my understanding my dependant has to apply for TRV and OWP both and once her TRV request is approved she will be getting OWP at the Canada port.

Now here comes the question:

- If she applies for both TRV and OWP both in India how much time does her application takes to approve? I have found that in India people get TRV within 5 days of time but in this case if its TRV+OWP then does it increase the processing time.
- If the processing time for her OWP is more in India then Can I ask her to apply for only TRV in India and when she arrives in Canada then can I apply for her OWP. Will this help me in getting the OWP sooner.

If she applies for the OWP in India, my understanding is that she would not need to apply for a TRV also, that it would be given automatically.  According to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp/workers.asp#asia a work permit in ND takes a month while a TRV takes 7 days, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp/visitors.asp#asia

If she applies for a TRV in ND, comes to Canada and then applies for a work permit from the inside, it would take almost 2 months, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp
