Hi All,

I am  and Indian lawfully admitted and residing in USA for more than one year. I am eligible to use  Buffalo as my VO. But I have second thoughts since New Delhi processing times are quicker and also NEW DELHI VO will be more familiar with our set of documents. I also understand that processing delays can happen when buffalo has to contact home country VO to obtain opinion on certain documents or conditions. Should I choose New Delhi or Buffalo? What is your suggestion and comments based. Thanks in advance for any information or experience discussed.

An important issue in choosing New Delhi is you will have to send your passport out of US to New Delhi when they request it. This happens  when your application is near approval. But  they can still keep the passport
for weeks to many months during which period, you won't be able to travel. Also, I do not know if sending your passport out of the country is the right thing to do.

Hi Coolbreeze,

Thank you so much for the reply. I did not think of this before. This is where experience helps. I will apply to buffalo. Yes, It is never advised to send passport out of country. I missed that point.

I choose Buffalo before becasue I am not planing to go back India anymore in nearest future for stamping or short stay, even that days Buffalo VO was faster than Delhi VO when I prepared for application.

Still that's your choise where to apply, if you are on short stay visa in USA and plan to return home, then apply at Delhi VO, if you don't plan to return home and staying on long time visa in the USA than apply Buffalo, still choise is yours.
