Indian in US on L1 and Immigrant Visa to Canada

Hi fellow members.
Some of you may know that I got my immigrant visa in December 2011, and its valid till October 2012.
Now, I may move to US on L1 visa (with the prospect of applying for green card) by June 2012. So, here are my questions:

1. If i move to US in June, can i enter Canada from US and complete the PR formalities in two weeks or so? Can i give my US address for mailing the PR card? I know it sounds weird. If not, can i give address of a relative of mine in Canada?

2. Lets say i have PR card from Canada and L1 in US and my family also has L2 in US and PR in Canada. Now, how freely can we travel between US and Canada?

3. I know i will have to give up one PR card (GC or PRC) but that will be only when i am about to get the second card, right?

4. What other complexities can crop up? I still do intend to move to Canada, but now after getting a couple of years work experience in US.

1.  Yes, your choice.
2.  No, will only be sent to Canadian address.  Yes it can be sent to relatives address.
3.  No problem on the Canadian side, as long as you meet the residency requirements.

Do i need to submit my passport as part of the process of getting a PR after landing there?
Am not sure what you meant by meeting the residency requirements. If i go back to US after completing the PR formalities, are there situations wherein i will not be allowed to come back to Canada in the next couple of years?

Once you get your PR card, you are free to travel outside Canada as per your wish but on the following condition:

You must stay in Canada for atleast 1095 days(continuously or intermittently) over a  period of 5 years,
else your PR will be revoked

1. In order to maintain your PR status, you must spend minimum 730 days in a 5 year period. (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomers/about-pr.asp#keep_status)
2. In order to be eligible for citizenship, you must have lived in Canada for at least 3 years (1095 days) in the past four years before applying for citizenship

Also, what about taxes? Do i have to pay a higher tax if i have a Canadian PR and work in US?

What if my wife and kids stay back in Canada and i work out of US, will they be eligible for Canadian citizenship if they meet the requirements and i dont?

 From what I understand you r right. If you stay 730 days in 5 years your PR will be extended for another 5years. For citizenship you must spend 1095 days in last 4 year period. You will have to pay taxes in Canada after the first free one year for new immigrants where ever you work.
Your wife and kids are eligible to get Canadian citizenship if they fulfill the requirements irrespective of you.
