hi there ,

I want to visit canada, since my son and daughter in law are wokrin there...i want to apply for a visit visa....my son has send me an invitation and it also states that he has sufficient funds to take care of my stay while there.

Now the application form has a block which ask for available funds in CAD. 

my query is...if i state an amount? do i hav to show that much amount available with me in my bank account???

You should attach a bank statement or copy of deposit receipts to prove that you have sufficient funds as stated by you. It can be in your national currency equal to CAD. If you don't have any proof, you can explain your situation to the interviewing officer of the visa section that your son has already  made an invitation and he will shoulder all the expenses for your living in Canada during your visit.
