In-Canada application: 1 year TRV

My finacé and I are going to get married in September. I'm PR and she has a 1 year TRV that expires in October. She has been coming to Canada and I going back home several times now. We want to start an in-canada application but with her visa expiring soon, would it be good to have her get another 1 year visa so that we don't have to be extending her stay over and over?
How soon can we get the AIP on an In-Canada application?
