BC Guy,
Your are suggesting that this lady takes up the PR and comes to Canada, and state that he has to provide for her for 3 years (which is the the rule), BUT you then state that he can go to jail if he assaults her - How can the system take money from him to pay for her social assistance, if he is not earning while in jail. I think you a lot of you are not looking at the whole picture and do not realise that the taxpayers will probably end up paying for this mess.

The bottom line is WHY should anyone get a PR is they are not in a "continuing" relationship and not willing to contribute to this country !!!

No matter what even if he landed himself in jail he would have to pay eventually .. There are no guarantees that even the most genuine relationship will continue.. lol wouldn't that be a perfect world Smiley I think you aren't seeing the whole picture.  You are looking at it from an outsider's standpoint as we all are but there is nothing wrong for feeling compassion for a woman that was made promises by her husband and who knows maybe they can reconcile.  And if not why not give this woman a chance for a new life in a great country? You are just assuming this woman will be a drain on society when there is a chance she is educated and independent enough she could sustain herself.  No one here is in the position to judge.. just help..

She already got the PR except for the landing bit and she never said she wasn't willing to contribute to the country.  For all we know, she might be a great asset to the country.

Who are you to judge?

I agree with boncuk and leon.

LEt us show some compassion and grace and try to help her. She is already in a difficult position and will not be happy seeing 'judgemental' posts. Who knows one day she could be a great asset to Canada.
