Afternoon.

Am in an interesting predicament, I m currently waiting for my PPR from buffalo within canada, but my current 2 year work permit will run out in 3.5 months time. This permit was a NOC, during my stay here it is not a NOC profession anymore, thus to renew the permit I would have to go through the very hard process of acquiring an LMO to extend.

I didn't think it would come to this as I applied with ample time left on my working visa, Im currently 16.5 months into my residency application.

My residency application is an arranged employment type, (timeline below) and I have been told that if I dont have a work permit at the time they request my passport I will be denied the residency.

Timeline:

Received application at buffalo early december 2009
In process late september 2010
Medicals done in october + meds received
currently waiting for PPR (has been 5.5 months since meds)

Does anyone have any thoughts on the best course of action? Will I really get denied even though I applied in due time? and my employer still wants to employ me? Im sure im pretty close to the PPR.

The silence is unnerving...  Can the elders confirm that I will loose the right to my residency if my current work permit expires?

I am taking pre-emtive measures, currently looking into working holiday visas to try and get around the need for an LMO.

Calling to anyone who is / has been in this situation before.

From what I understand if you apply within Canada under a arranged employment, before they request your passport they check there systems to make sure you still hold a valid work permit.

Correct?

HI

As far as i know you have to be on a valid visa to live in Canada and if your work permit finish you either need to apply for another work permit or some other visa to stay in Canada otherwise you will have to leave the country and wait until your application is approved and you can come back.

Cheers

Sorry to bump this but still looking for definitive answer, no working permit = no ppr?
