I do not think so, the parent and grandparent super visa will come into effect on December 1, 2011.

This seems like a good move but I have one question. I know it's new and all that but does anyone have any idea of what this minimum income threshold may be? I was wondering if it was something like the LICO on the PR application. Any guesses/opinions?
To qualify, parents and grandparents must:
1. undergo the Immigration Medical Examination (unless exempted); 2. demonstrate that they have purchased private Canadian medical insurance; and 3. provide a written commitment of financial support from a child or grandchild in Canada who meets a minimum income threshold.

I guess that they might start at LICO, but where it goes from there is anyones guess.

Why wouldn't permanent residents be included, if it didn't, waiting for a sponsor to be come a citizen would introduce another delay.

Oh my... I hope it is a typo but it didn't mention PRs. I hope they don't really mean just citizens. "Who is eligible for a Parent and Grandparent Super Visa? What do they need to do to qualify for it? Parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens who have been found admissible to Canada and meet some other conditions are eligible for the Super Visa." http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/faq/immigrate/sponsor/index.asp#parent

Oh I thought it is available to all parents and grandparents. It is only available to those who applied for sponsorship already?

Thats exactly why I asked if parents of landed immigrants qualify.
I will try my best to clarify this with CIC. And if they really mean what they wrote, we need to try our best to flight back this unfairness.

CIC just called me back confirming that there was a typo on their website. They will correct it shortly.
The rule states very clearly:
Super Visa is applicable to all parents and grandparents of both Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
For those who have been worried, I can confirm the info on CIC website was not correct and will be corrected!

Do you think it's possible that in future they do the same with spousal/common-law... I mean stop applications until further notice?
