What's not the problem? I don't really understand what you're asking...

If you are asking if its a problem whether you met your spouse online, on a social network site...as long as you have a lot of proof to verify a genuine relationship it does not matter where you met your partner. I met my partner online playing poker, and we were lucky and processed in a matter of months...but then again it was Buffalo. Depending on your visa office, it may take longer...

Sounds like a social networking site-arranged marriage combination. No, CIC does not care that you met virtually. We're in the 21st century and this is quite common, and they deal with numerous applications where people meet each other online. As far as the arranged marriage thing goes.....even if it was a traditional arranged marriage, meaning your family looked for potential spouses that were compatible and met them face to face on your behalf......CIC does not look down on this per se. They know this is traditional in certain communities. What they do have a problem with are marriages that were arranged for the purposes of immigration.....a lot of times, families do a "swap" type thing. This is why CIC asks if you are related to anyone who arranged your marriage and how, if at all, you are related to your spouse (well, I think they still ask that). When you fill out IMM5490E, the sponsored spouse questionnaire, you need to give them as much proof as possible that you are with your spouse for the right reasons so they have no reason to think you entered into the marriage to immigrate to Canada. I met my wife through Bharatmatrimony but I had said Arranged marriage. Why to take unnecessary risk. Doesnt make any difference either

Like I said, they have no problem with people meeting each other online, particularly when the couple meets in real life and lives together for as long as you did. omggg thats not my question....my question was that i met my husband online we met each once when i first went to india and than after that i met him when i went to india for 10 days and in my third trip we decided to get married and live together. i lived with him india for almost 8 months and than i came to canada to resume my studies. i m jst concern that saying the truth that we met each other online is not the problem right?

It should not be a problem at all...if you read my post before ddbro...a lot of people meet online, get married and sponsor...they may look at the cultural norms, and take that into account....what you need to be more worried about is proving that you have a genuine relations hip. the fact that you married after 2 visits may be a detrimint, but...the fact that you lived together for 8 months after the wedding, will be a huge plus to you....honestly don't fret...as long as you can prove the relationship is real and ongoing then you have no worries whatsoever, as nowadays its common to meet your partner online.... *edit* lmao...ddbro, was writing this as you posted....

I was in Calgary and met my wife in Bharatmatrimony. I saw her in person only 3 days before marriage. My wife was very apprehensive of mentioning "online" in her PR application. So I did not. One more thing is she even did not say "online" to her distant elder relatives..she said something like I am friends brother or something.. ..you know India..

Well, I can understand her apprehension about admitting this....perhaps she's embarassed by it or something. But I really think honesty is the best policy here......if the unfortunate happens and CIC requests an interview.....you or her (I forget which is the principal applicant) could really get in trouble if you backtrack on the story in your application of you meeting through a family member and start talking about meeting through Bharatmatrimony.....and you don't want to give CIC any reason to doubt your relationship. That's just my two cents.... I met my husband in a chatroom connected to a thing called Livestation.....where one watches channels such as Al Jazeera English. We had a lot of contact virtually before I went to meet him. Then I went to meet him a second time (months later). Then he came to my city to marry me (another few months later). So we were physically together for about 6 days total (two separate trips of 3 days each), before he came for the purposes of getting married. On paper that looks ridiculous. But it's the truth and I can only hope that CIC is convinced by the evidence I provided (plus the fact that I've been living with him in Canada for over a year now).
