Hi!

I'm an 46 year old married german lutheran pastor from the Evangelical
Church of Central Germany (which is Part of the Evangelical Church of
Germany / EKD) in Eastern Germany and am looking for a change.
When my wife and I were traveling Northern America (Canada) last year
we visited several parishes and pastors and I also preached in some
bilingual services (both languages).
We tried to figure out if serving as a pastor in another country and
culture could be an opportunity and possibilty for my wife and me.
So we discussed the pros and cons and the difficulties of such a
decision with our hosts and they advised us to come to Northern America.
We then decided that it's definitly worth a try, especially after our
hosts encouraged me to submit an application - despite the credit crunch.
And maybe even my wife who now works for church administration will get a job in Canada again.
She's a management assistant in real estate (or real estate developer or real estate agent or realtor - I'm not sure what's he right expression for her job title she once learned).
I already found out how to make an application for a job as a pastor.
So when I do this what may be the next steps to get a work permit for me and my wife (!) and a permanent residency?

Thank you for you help in advance!
