Immigration VISA on Old Passport and New Passport reissued for validity

Please advise...

The Immigration VISA is valid until July 2010 and on the Old Passport. New passport has been re issued in June 2010 since it was valid for less than 3 months (expity Sep 2010). Airlined and other country travel VISA was not being issued if passport was valid for less than 6 months.

Will I be allowed first landing with both passport taken together.Tickets are booked to lan in Canada end of June. COPR document also has ref. to OLD passport number. Emailed the CHC new Delhi but have not received any response from them.

Please let me know next steps

No need to worry about thsi passport issue.
In my country and to my mind everywhere this is a rule that when a new passport is issued
Either it is cancelled if there are no valid visas on this passport
Or It is not cancelled if a visa that is valid has been stamped in it.

In both these situations if you go through your old and new passports you shall find on one of the pages written that this person has been issued this passport after the cancellation of old passport #ed this and this,

All you need to do is to Punch both the passports together when you travel I myself have travelled with 4 passports all stamped together.

What to do is that you should relax and lay back and dream about Canada

hello.  i think, and this is just my personal understanding, your visa will only be valid:

 1) one year from the date of medical exam and
 2) up to the validity of your passport (or that of your dependents)

it is my understnding the visa validity cannot be extended beyond that of your (AND dependents') passport.  even if your (or thier) passports have diff expiry dates, the visa for everybody will expire when the first pp expires (wether be it you or their pp's). i hope this helps

i already have a visa on my old passport till September 2013. I came to Canada in September 2011. After coming to Canada i noticed i have no last name on my passport. Then i corrected my name and Indian embassy issued me a new passport at Ottawa. They cancelled the old one. Now i want the Canadian Visa on my new passport. Will you please tell me how can i do that?
