i got my degree and worked in canada (lived there from 1997-2005). got my PR approved and landed back in Mar 08. but i returned back to my own country as soon as i landed. now need your advise on 3 questions pls. many thanks for your quick response. cheers.

1) how long, in my case, do i have to live in canada before i can truly become a canadian and have canadian passport?

2) my PR card will expire in Apr 2013. does it mean i must complete my parmanent stay in canada (depends on the answer from question 1 above) before its expiration?

3) what happen if i return to canada right before my PR expires, say return in Jan 2013 (3 months before its expiration)?

>>>> 3 years in total 5 years time and you can apply for citizenship, that process also takes 8-12 months.

2) my PR card will expire in Apr 2013. does it mean i must complete my parmanent stay in canada (depends on the answer from question 1 above) before its expiration?
>>>> If you fulfill the residential requirement of 2/5 years it will be extended.

3) what happen if i return to canada right before my PR expires, say return in Jan 2013 (3 months before its expiration)?

>>>> If you do not meet 2/5 years requirement on Jan 2013 and have no chance even adding 3 months, you would be asked reason for the same and you could be denied entry in Canada. If you fulfill 2/5 then it is all right, you will be all set.

awesome. many thanks for your answer. if you don't mind, i just want to confirm further.

so my case being, (1) if i can stay in canada for 2 full years before Apr 2013, i'll be given granted another 5 years to either repeat the same 2 full years path or simply stay 3 full years to apply a citizenship, correct? else, (2) if i don't stay 2 full years before Apr 2010, they have rights to withdraw my PR, correct?
