Hello, recently I responded to a thread where someone posted several months ago that prospective immigrants who are US citizens need to write their name and DOB on one of the four immigration photos included with their app for PR.

I'm not sure if this person is still active here or if this information is up to date, because I cannot find anything anywhere that says to write anything at all on the back of any of my immigration photos (again, US citizen, my Canadian wife is sponsoring me as her spouse/family class). Of course it's possible that I missed something somewhere while processing all the instructions/info!  Huh I am mainly referring to the document checklists for both Sponsor and Sponsored Person as well as Appendix B (Photo Specifications) the US specific instructions.

So my question is, as a US citizen being sponsored family class/spouse by my Canadian wife, do I have to write my name/DOB or anything at all on the back of any of my 4 immigration photos? (they were stamped at the photographer with the date taken but that's it)

If anyone could provide the answer to this and back it up with an official CIC link it would be appreciated - I hope to send my application off tomorrow but I'm stuck on this immigration photo thing...  Lips sealed

I did not write my name and DOB on the back of my photos that I sent in with my application.  Why would you need to do that when they have all of that information on the sheets they are sticking the photographs on?

Thank you for the reply. There have been a lot of things throughout this application that I have said "Why would I need to do that/know that?" but it is what it is. I have heard conflicting information on this particular matter so I wanted to ask to be sure.

May I ask if your application has been approved yet, without anything written on those photos? Also are you from the US?

As far as I remember when submitting my app I didn't write any info on the back side of them. The only time that I know of when you need to do that is when your PR is approved and the consulate requests those photos to be sent to them for your PR visa. In such case the consulate will give you instructions on what info you should write on the back of your photos. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong but this is what I think is the procedure with photos.

I am from the USA, but my application has not been approved yet.  A decision has been made in my case though so I am just waiting for the letter to come in the mail.  Grin
