Hi
hi i am a canadian citizen born in canada and i have a son born outside canada and my wife is british.
i am curently back in canada and want to bring them over.what do i have to do to register my son as a canadian citizen and keep my wife here and get her a working visa and apply for her to become a citizen to?
1. You have to apply for proof of citizenship for your son:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof.asp2. You have to sponsor your spouse:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp3. Your spouse will not be eligible for a work permit, if you sponsor overseas. Processing time about 57 days at Mississauga for approval/refusal of sponsorship and about 7 months in London for 80% of the applicant with a
complete application. Your spouse could visit in Canada while the application is being processed in London.
4. PR and citizenship are 2 different things. Once your spouse is Permanent Resident, she could apply for citizenship after 3 years residency in the 4 years prior to the date she signs the application.
