Hi Everyone!
                 My fiance's PR papers are being processed now, and has been for the past 18 months! I am hoping to get some general info and advice.  Is there any place in vancouver where you can get free counsel or advice or info about the PR process and how marriage will affect that process? Is your fiancee in Canada? What is the nature of the job of your fiancee? If she's in Canada under the live in caregiver program she can go to West Coast Domestics; they may be able to help you there. Else you can consult Immigration consultants/lawyers; the first visit to is free and you can even call them just to ask general inquiries. If she's in Canada and you're getting married in Canada and you are both free to marry, marriage should not  negatively affect her PR processing.

                     Thank you for answering my questions, very helpful! I will be contacting West Coast Domestics.   I have a few more questions, and would definitely appreciate anyone that can answer these questions!           

                My fiancee is under humanitarian and compassionate grounds visa.  Her PR paper's have been in processing since july 2010, 18 months! She cannot work until she gets an LMO and her current visa expires July 12, 2012. If we get married before her visa expires and then it expires will she still have to go home?

                 I have read on cic.gc.ca website that compassionate grounds visa's are rarely given PR status.  Is this true?

                 Her friend has also told her that if she gets deported she cannot return to canada. Is this true?

                 I am wondering if getting married to her will speed up the processing time of her PR status? Also if we get married will she then be able to return to her country to visit her family? Or will she have to wait until her papers have been processed?

1.  You have to apply for proof of citizenship for your son: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof.asp
2.  You have to sponsor your spouse: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp
3.  Your spouse will not be eligible for a work permit, if you sponsor overseas.  Processing time about 57 days at Mississauga for approval/refusal of sponsorship and about 7 months in London for 80% of the applicant with a complete application.  Your spouse could visit in Canada while the application is being processed in London.
4.  PR and citizenship are 2 different things.  Once your spouse is Permanent Resident, she could apply for citizenship after 3 years residency in the 4 years prior to the date she signs the application.
