It comes from a website by one person who has not managed to successfully make the move in Canada. What's known as 'sour grapes'.
It keeps getting posted here from time to time.
Basically it is a few facts distorted to give the impression that Canada is probably the worst country in the world to live in. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that would come as a big surprise to the majority of Canadians.
It is quite easy to refute all the points logically but not worth the time and effort. Just think of it as a racist attack against Canada and you'll know how much credence to give it.

 Well, what he has written is true. I live in Canada and when someone wants to immigrate, I tell them that Immigration Canada does paint a false image and don't tell them the truth and don't help them once they are here.
 Yes we are the most taxed country and there is no reason for it either.
 Yes, there is a shortage of doctors and so bad that where my son is in Rouyn Noranda, Québec, he is epileptic and they refuse him even at emergency cause he has no doctor. I lived there and in my circle were doctors and they left for the same reason..plus it is terribly cold there worse part in Quebec to live in. I had one doctor friend of mine who was leaving and he accepted to do one more operation for me..he operated on the singer Angie Gallant who is my very good friend.
 I have one person here from syria who I helped and after a month he wanted to leave. He encountered racisim and couldnt find a job but in a factory. I got him out of there and told him where to go to at least get some good pay and canadian experience, get his equivalnace..go to university to get his masters. He listened to me and got the job and was refused by one university so I told him where to go to the next university and he would be surely accepted. He called today to tell me with joy that he was and said that if I wasn't here to help him, he would have left. He said it is exactly as you said but I didn't believe you..trust me he said, I will tell my people not to immigrate to Canada.
:? No, it is not true that the Canadians don't have a culture and here French is the official language and you must learn French to get a job. It is because you are probably not French so you don,t know anything about the French culture.
:? Actually the worse place to live is in the artic..6 months nite and 6 months lite all day and nite and winter all year round.
:? Yes true Canadians leave at least minimun 3 months..the coldest months are january feb and march.. I did it myself for 5 years..great not to see snow!!!
 Yes there is a contradiction in the point system..you qualify in the points but you dont qualify for a job unless you are up to Canadian Standard and have Canadian work experience..which to me is the stupidist idiotic law I have ever come across. :!:
 True the cost of living is way to high and now that there are housing shortages..the owners have sky rocketed their prices. A 2and a half you could get for 350$ all included now ...its 600$ and more depending where you want to live. The food costs horribly high that many families have to go to the church basmement to get food or beg on the street to make ends meet.
 We have mental patients let out of the hospitals who end up on the street. We have the homeless, the runaways. street gangs, and would you believe that we have 1 million children who go to school without any breakfast or even just have a bowl of porridge for the whole day sometimes!!! :!: Canada is no longer the Land of Milk and Honey and I tell the people who are reffered to me the whole truth and then if they want to come just the same, then they cannot blame me.
 Many immigrants have left and the quota I believe has gone down considerably. I havent looked into it but if I remember it was said that the canadians were not having children and the baby boomers were getting old and the elderly are living longer. To show you how bad it is, now the gouvenment is now encouraging businesses to take on the elderly because there are not enough people to work...and if it continues Canada would go into bankrupcy if there are no babies to replace the elderly.
:) Even myself, I am going to remarry and leave Canada for Africa in a couple of years or sooner with my daughter. I have a friend of mine who is a Prince and having whole floor of his house getting furnished etc for when we will be ready to leave here..Good bye the cold! I will be representing an organisation who help homeless, teen pregnancy, hiv etc. That is my goal. I have met a wonderful nigerian in Gambia and we have continued our relationship on the net. I will be leaving when it is possible to go meet his whole family and then we will be married later on. I do lead an exciting life. :D

Dancing Feather, you are right with those points.
I think that the lack of Canadians having children is down to the costs associated with it. Maternity leave is 12 months here and I know 2 of my work colleagues who went into panic mode when thier wives got pregnant. The reason ... How would they manage without that income?? then they started to work about affording education for thier kids who hadnt even been born yet!!
People dont realise that in Canada a benefit given in one hand will be taken away in another. I had another friend who got maternity pay for 6 months for his wife, the other 6 months was unpaid, only to find it was taken back when their income tax was files as they determined thier salary was apparently above the limit set to qualify. But dont forget, when someone earns more money they have higher costs ... more expensive home, car etc ... and cant afford to give up money so easy.
Also not mentioned by anyone is the fact you dont get paid for sick days off work. Most people have more than one job just to get by. I have 2 jobs and resisted for 3 years before finally giving in and getting that second job.
Vacation time is one week in most places but if you are in luck to work for government then you get 2 weeks. I can from an employer in England where I got 5 weeks vacations, so lets see, I work 75 hours a week and get just 2 weeks vacation a year off (no vacation on the second job though).
Where is the time to enjoy life? its just an existence. If someone had told me this stuff I woudlnt have come I will be honest and since coming I tell everyone back in England 'Dont come!! its not worth it'
I know, I know some of you are thinking, why are you still here?? I tell you, its because Canada has drained my finances and I cant afford to go home just yet, but I'm working on it. There just isnt enough to keep me here.
I have made a success, I'm not someone who is bitter and life hasnt worked out. I have a governement job as my primary job, I get full benefits at work I own my own home and I have a nice car. But its not enough .... I had luxury back home too, I came here to maintain that lifestyle and have time to enjoy it. Here there is no time to enjoy it.
As for medical, yes there is a desperate shortage of family doctors. walk in clinics and urgent care clinics that are supposed to be for people needing urgent care ... these places are full with people who dont have family doctors. They go to the walk in centre or urgent care just to get a sick note for work or something minor ... (by the way you need a sick note for 3 or more days off work and the note will cost you $10) so the poor person who needs urgent care can be sat there for 8 hours waiting to see someone.
No one expects it to be easy when you move to any new country, but at the same time they should be open and honest and they would have more chance of keeping people who do make it here.
Ok, so 'notcanada' may have gone about this the wrong way, but how many peple will have been deterred just in case he is right? I know I have managed to convince family and friends not to come here. And now look at the guy Dancing Feather mentions. People are out there with bad experiences, and it doesnt matter who thinks its their own fault or whatever, the point it they pass that word on and eventually the number applying will continue to drop ........
They have to do something soon to make it a positive experience and promoting an open and honest view of the country will be a good start.
Also note .... if you manage to read this before it is deleted by the moderators .... watch how long it is before it is removed. For some reason No-One will let the truth come out, why?? I mean I want people to come to Canada and make it work for them, I have made a success, its just not the lifestyle I want, its an existence working all day for what???
Good luck and best advice I can give is be thorough with your research, dont give up on the dream it may work out for you, depends what you want from it.

:) Angie, that is an excellent example you have given, since it is you that is living it.
:? I would be surprised that it would be erased as this is a free country and you are not slandering etc. YOU are telling the truth as I have and others.
:) I have a friend who is an African Prince and he wanted to immigrate here, after I talked to him, he thought about it and listened to my adivice and is going to UK to do his masters, then will go to his uncle in Alberta and he will have a job when he arrives. He said he was so glad to have met me because all the hype about Canada and he said that he would have wasted his time here and was best to do his masters as he is going into business for himself and surely was best to listen to me.
:) He is also going to be the one to give me away when I will remarry as my boyfriend said he was going to ask me to be his wife and is preparing a very special preposal. :D
:D Have you ever thought Angie of selling everything you own and go back home. Otherwise, you will always be stuck here and say..Someday. Put it in your mind and it will happen. I'm sure selling all you own would bring you a tidy price. Think about it.
