My gut tells me they mean if you're over the age of 18 or not, but it doesn't directly say that for Question 12, if you have ever been a member or associated with any organizations. I was in a group called 4-H when I was a kid, basically just a farming community club. It confused me when I read "youth groups"... but other than that, I really can't think of anything else I've been in that would qualify! But even then I don't remember the exact years I was in it.

Oh! And one more thing, please. On the Sponsor Spouse/Partner Questionarre, for all the detailed responses, do those have to be in block letters as well? And also (sorry, I guess I had three questions!)

What if you don't remember or know the exact date you lived or worked or what have you... is just putting the month and year or just year all right? Does anyone have any experiences with this? My memory just doesn't go back that far sometimes! Thank you so much, as always!

question # 3- there were a few questions i couldn't remember exact dates for some i put a month and year but no day and for a few i couldn't even remember the year and just left it blank. I've actually had your question book marked waiting to hear what other people say

question# 1 - i just assumed they wanted things from age 18 plus or the last ten years like with the other questions

Thanks for your input! It's really a question trying to figure out what everyone else put on their apps, to get a feel for it. The member/association question is worded vaguely in my opinion because it's the only one (I think) that DOESN'T have the age 18/10 years clearly written. And of course kids are involved in lots of activities and organizations (at least where I live!) so that would be hard for me to remember all of them. Girl Scouts, things of that nature =] ...but something tells me they don't care much if I was in Girl Scouts 15 years ago.

When filling out the forms, keep in mind: it's better to tell too much than too little. In this case, if you give them too much, they'll just think "silly woman, we didn't need to know you were a girl scout!" but if you give them too little, it'll be "she's trying to hide she was a girl scout!" A silly example, but I think you get the point. If you give them information they don't need, they'll just disregard it. If you don't give them information they do need, then it could be an issue. Hence, too much is better than too little Smiley

I don't think a farming club counts as an 'organization' though. lol. And I'm 100% certain they won't check up on it, so if you put down the wrong year, nobody will ever know.

As for the block letters... well, if you mean 'block letters' as opposed to cursive, then yes, use block letters. Doesn't mean you have to use all upper case letters though, there's lower case block letters too Wink
But anyway, as long as it's easy to read, there should be no issues.

If you put down the month for something it's fine. Just remember that for things like personal history there should be no gaps in the timeline, every month of your life should be accounted for.
Btw, the forms I was looking at don't ask for the exact date anyway, the Schedule asks for year and month only >_> But I know there's some on the sponsored person questionnaire.

Turns out 4-H and Girl Scouts are bonafide "youth organizations" as the form asks if you've been apart of! Maybe that's why they don't put "over the age of 18" there. Here is a list:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youth_organization

Now if you look up what a "social organization" is, it gets a little confusing:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_organisation
Because it states: Common examples include education, governments, families, economic systems, religions, and any people or groups that you have social interaction with.

What? I'm sure that's not what CIC had in mind when asking... but you know. At least I know the youth thing now.

I'm throwing High School Yearbook in as well ;-)

It's best to just throw everything and the kitchen sink at them and let them decide what's relevant and what's not... :p

Ahahah for sure. I've almost got that form completly finished now (thank goodness I'm only 22... if I were any older that form would be SO much harder! It's hard enough as it is!). I'm not going to list Sunday School (they didn't ask religious organizations) or like that Wikipedia article suggests "education, governments, famillies..." that doesn't even make sense. But my youth stuff... yeah. That will do.

I did some volunteer work too, but I didn't mention that in my application. It said "if you are/were a member of any organizations/associations"... I'm not 100% sure if volunteer work counts as such... but again, if you're worried, like everyone mentioned here, it can't hurt. Here's what I put.

Girl Scouts of the USA (Youth Organization)
4-H (Youth Organization)
High School Yearbook (Student Organization)
American Kykuido Federation (Social Organization)

I figured that pretty much summed it up. I left out the volunteer work because I figured it didn't fit.

I have membership in Project Management Institute (PMI). Is it relevant to mention about this in Question 12 (IMM0008 - Member/association with organizations)?

I opted to list everything I could think of that I ever was a member, involved or part of that might fall under that even if I end up being laughed at. Yeah not sure how Girl Scouts applies, but I took even that as being something I should list.

Yeah, I'm sure you should list the Scouts and the 4-H, but I think what they really want to know here is if you were in the Hitler Youth or some anarchist anti-government organization. Just fill in anything that seems to fit.
