Question for the sponsor - have you resided in countries other than Canada? List addresses and phone numbers.

Do they really expect people to remember phone numbers from 10 or 15 years ago?
The question before asks about 'details of employers for the past five years.'

Does this five year criteria apply to this question, too? Does anyone know how to find out old phone numbers?

this is the last question - please help.

I don't think it very  essential. I suggest you can leave the phone number as - not known - When I filed the application I did not show the old phone numbers because the phone company it self got changed before few years and the phone numbers were changed.

Michi-08 - since the form says "did you ever reside in any other country" I would assume that you were supposed to list your home country as well. Maybe you should contact your embassy and let them know about your mistake.

misterkerl - just reply as good as you can. I am not sure where you are from, but don't you have any documents which could help you answering this question - eg rental contracts, some sort of official documents showing where you lived, or even letters?
The 5 year rule only applies to the employers, not the residential addresses.

Thanks valy79, since our application is still in Mississauga and queue for assessment , can we call them or send a letter of explanation or we just wait until they assess it and instruct us what to do if they send back our application...I'm so so so stupid about this, i checked our form so many times and I didn't notice about this mistake. Cry

If I were in your situation I would call CIC and tell them about the mistake, and ask them what step I need to take next.

Also as far as I know because you were over 18 when you left your country of birth, and in your case you were 20 so I do assume that it has to be included on the form.

Please don't lose your sleep because of this I know you've worked really hard and looked over so many times to make sure you've made no mistakes / errors. And when you finally find out a mistake... you know its too late to correct it. Please don't lose your sleep...

Just remember to call CIC, and ask them what to do.

Good luck and a Happy Friday!!!

I agree with DNT2003. Don't worry about it too much! A lot of people make mistakes, and as long as you let them know about it and explain it to them I am sure there will be no problem!
I also think that since it is still in Canada you can probably just call CIC and let them know, or FAX your explanation to them (I wouldn't mail it since it might get there too late and your file might already get sent off to the 2nd embassy).

I have called CIC abt this as they didn't have a specific time line..so they advised me to put all the addresses I was at since birth!  Cry crazy!
So..I tracked back and I did...phone numbers whatever I had I did and put a note at the bottom that dates/ phone numbers are to the best of my knowledge...I don't think the phone numbers really matter much...phone companies and numbers change all the time! and If you were in one country..(like before you landed in Canada) I don't think they are going to bother so much abt it...I think it's because they want to know what you've been up to....like if you lived in afganistan for 2 yrs...they prob might want to dig in  Roll Eyes no offense to anyone!

Don't worry much abt it...I wasn't sure either ..but I put my details just incase if they want it..and if that's not what they are lookng for..they'll ignore...but if u made a mistake I'm sure other people who do the same too! besides...if they want they will pull up your old file see that u didn't live anywhere else...but once u get a AOR send them the updates...or call CIC if that'll help u relax...but it's certainly nothing to worry!

Sorry to butt in. Would I have to list the place I lived in for 2 1/2 years in London which is 23 years ago? I have lived in several places but can only remember one address.

I would say just put whatever info you have available....! shouldn't be a prob ...I don't think CIC is going to go check at each and every address u lived at...if it was for shorter periods...I wuld think it's ok to leave them...

i think they expect to see all the addresses u have lived (even for 2 years or less); i asked around my parents, other family and tried to put everything including phone numbers; if they see u did ur best than it's ok; it's also normal not to remember anymore or not to notice, we all make mistakes; it depends on the officer i guess if he thinks u genuinely forgot or made mistake, or if u tried to hide something (if this is the case, they might ask u to answer full)....
