i need clarification from form imm 5490 first part that say "did you have any contact with your sponsor before you meet in person?"
in our case i met my husband since i was still in my country i have known him for 2 years since 2004 and we immigrated to canada 2006 so from that year onward i knew him already.

so, how will i answer the first question is it base the year we really first met or it pertains when we met again after i migrated? because our situation is not the same as the others they like penpal  situation.

It's asking if you "met" (had contact with) your husband online, on the phone, through regular postal letters, or some other method before you met him face-to-face. If the first time you every talked to him or have any contact was in person, then you mark no.

We have the same situation. In that part of the form, I just put a note at the side explaining very briefly that I met my husband in person when we were in high school. I can't exactly remember if I had ticked the "yes" or "no" box, though.

Anyhow, i've already been approved as a sponsor, so I think what I did must have been acceptable to them.=)

Put 'no'.
The first contact you had with your husband was a face-to-face, real meeting, right? You did not email each other first, or talk on the phone before you actually met in real life, correct?
In the 'history of your relationship' sections in the forms, you can explain that you two met in the year ____, but were just friends or acquaintances. And then after you immigrated to Canada in 2006 you met him again, and this time you two developed a romantic relationship.
This question means the first time you really met.
